Compensating for a sensor deficiency in a heterogeneous sensor array
Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with compensating for a sensor deficiency in a heterogeneous sensor array are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may include a compute device to aggregate perception data from individual perception pipelines, each of which is associated with respective one of different types of sensors of a heterogeneous sensor set, to identify a characteristic associated with a space to be monitored by the heterogeneous sensor set; detect a sensor deficiency associated with a first sensor of the sensors; and in response to a detection of the sensor deficiency, derive next perception data for more than one of the individual perception pipelines from sensor data originating from at least one second sensor of the sensors. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.
Apparatus and method for detecting objects in water bodies
An apparatus and a method are provided for detecting one or more objects under a surface of a water body. The method includes transmitting one or more ultrasonic waves into the water body according to a transmit beam pattern. The method further includes determining a bottom characteristic of a bottom of the water body and dynamically adjusting the transmit beam pattern, based on the bottom characteristic of the water body.
Robotic target alignment for vehicle sensor calibration
A robotic system and method for aligning a target to an equipped vehicle for calibration of a sensor on the equipped vehicle includes a vehicle support stand upon which an equipped vehicle is disposed in an established known position for calibration of the sensor, and a robotic manipulator having a multi-axis robotic arm configured to moveably hold a target. The robotic manipulator is configured to position the target into a calibration position relative to the sensor on the equipped vehicle by longitudinal movement of the robotic manipulator relative to the vehicle support stand and by movement of the robotic arm based on the established known position of the equipped vehicle on the vehicle support stand whereby the sensor is able to be calibrated using the target.
Ultrasound flow measurement device with signal quality monitoring
An ultrasound flow measurement device has a vessel through which a fluid to be measured flows. An ultrasound measurement configuration with an ultrasound transducer is provided for measuring a propagation time of an ultrasound signal containing a plurality of periods along a measurement section that runs partly in a direction of flow. A controller determines a fluid flow on a basis of a propagation time measurement. The controller contains a memory, a first evaluator for determining a period duration of at least one of the periods of an ultrasound signal received after passing through the measurement section, a second evaluator for determining a spread value of a predetermined number of last received ultrasound signals, a comparator for comparing the spread value with a threshold value, and an actioning device for initiating a control action, assigned to the threshold value that has been exceeded, for the ultrasound flow measurement device.
Near-object detection using ultrasonic sensors
This document describes near-object detection using ultrasonic sensors. Specifically, when an object is in a near-object range or distance from a vehicle, an object-detection system of the vehicle can utilize raw range measurements and various parameters derived from the raw range measurements. The various parameters may include an average, a slope, and a variation of the range. In the near-object range, using the parameters derived from the raw range measurements may lead to increases in the accuracy and performance of a vehicle-based object-detection system. The increased accuracy in near-object detection capability enhances safe driving.
Vehicle analysis environment with displays for vehicle sensor calibration and/or event simulation
A vehicle analysis environment includes one or more display screens, such as a display screen wall or an array of display screens. While a vehicle is in the vehicle analysis environment, a vehicle analysis system renders and displays one or more vehicle sensor calibration targets and/or one or more simulated events on the one or more display screens. Vehicle sensors of the vehicle capture sensor data while in the vehicle analysis environment. The sensor data depict the vehicle sensor calibration targets and/or the simulated events that are displayed on the one or more display screens. The vehicle can output actions based on the simulated event and/or can calibrate its vehicle sensors based on the vehicle sensor calibration targets.
Methods, systems, and apparatuses to estimate hitch articulation angle (HAA) using ultra-sonic sensors (USS) and fusion with other sensors
In various embodiments, methods, systems, and vehicle apparatuses are provided. A method for estimating a Hitch Articulation Angle (HAA) using Ultra-Sonic Sensors (USSs) while ensuring quality detected echo signal performance using plausibility filtering, generating at least one set of USS data based on detecting a set of echo signals generated by a plurality of USSs configured about a vehicle coupled to a trailer; determining based on a set of USS data using a selected set of geometric equations in a plausibility filtering process for an arbitrary frontal shape of the trailer; and generating at least one comparison based on at least one set of USS data estimations to a kinematic model at low speeds for ensuring that results of the kinematic model to the HAA associated with the determined trailer shape is based on a pair of detected echo signals that are deemed to have a higher signal performance.

Mobile support platform for calibrating a vehicle
Various aspects of the subject technology relate to a mobile support platform for vehicle sensor calibration. The mobile support platform includes a chassis, lift posts on the chassis configured to interface with one or more lift points on a vehicle and raise the vehicle, and a set of wheels mounted to the chassis configured to carry the vehicle through a calibration sequence.

The present invention concerns a method and apparatus for the modulation of an acoustic field for providing tactile sensations. A method of creating haptic feedback using ultrasound is provided. The method comprises the steps of generating a plurality of ultrasound waves with a common focal point using a phased array of ultrasound transducers, the common focal point being a haptic feedback point, and modulating the generation of the ultrasound waves using a waveform selected to produce little or no audible sound at the haptic feedback point.
