Disclosed by the present application are a positioning method and apparatus, which are used to improve indoor positioning performance and precision without occupying a large amount of system resources. At a positioning server side, a positioning method provided by an embodiment of the present application comprises: acquiring a positioning capability supported by a user equipment (UE), and determining, according to the positioning capability, that the UE may obtain a positioning measurement value by means of detecting a positioning reference signal ioPRS that is used for indoor/outdoor positioning; acquiring positioning auxiliary data comprising ioPRS configuration data, and sending the positioning auxiliary data to the UE; acquiring the positioning measurement value that is provided by the UE and that is acquired on the basis of the ioPRS, and using the positioning measurement value to position the UE.

Run-time system for deployment of indoor positioning systems

During a setup phase, a computing device determines a map of an area including one or more regions. Signals are received from a plurality of ultra-wideband (UWB) nodes and a plurality of Bluetooth Low energy (BLE) nodes in the area, relayed through one or more agents at one or more positions of the area. A precision map is created based on a correlation between the received signals from the UWB nodes and the received signals from the BLE nodes. Some embodiments provide an apparatus configured to determine product placement conditions within a shopping facility, comprising: a transceiver configured to wirelessly receive communications; a product monitoring control circuit coupled with the transceiver; a memory coupled with the control circuit and storing computer instructions that when executed by the control circuit cause the control circuit to: obtain a composite three-dimensional (3D) scan mapping corresponding to at least a select area of the shopping facility and based on a series of 3D scan data; evaluate the 3D scan mapping to identify multiple product depth distances; and identify, from the evaluation of the 3D scan mapping, when one or more of the multiple product depth distances is greater than a predefined depth distance threshold from the reference offset distance of the product support structure.

A method and apparatus for locating a target in a venue is described. A backend controller activates transmitters in a venue to send burst signals using a double symmetry configuration formed of a plurality of separate transmitter groups. The backend controller activates the transmitters into a second, different configuration for bursting. The resulting location signal information from each configuration is obtained by the backend controller, which then more accurately determines the location of the target in the venue.
