Emergency notification SMS messaging during E911 call
10499454 · 2019-12-03 · ·

This disclosure is directed to generating and sending an emergency notification short message service (SMS) message to one or more registered contacts of a user when the user's user equipment (UE) is used to call enhanced 911 (E911). The E911 call may be placed either as a voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) or as a voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) call. The emergency contacts may be previously designated by the user, and saved to a profile associated with the user. When the user calls E911, a gateway mobile location center (GMLC) system may cooperate with one or more other components of a mobile communications network to route the E911 call to a nearby public safety answering point (PSAP) based at least in part on location information of the UE from which the E911 call was placed. This same location information may be provided in the emergency notification SMS message.

Beacon location estimation
11977174 · 2024-05-07 ·

A method and system for estimation of the current location of a remote radio beacon, at a mobile device, based on two historical positions thereof provided via at least two satellite relays and one base station, particularly usable for Search and Rescue. A beacon is configured to periodically transmit short RF signals, relayed by a first satellite payload to a base station, at which the position of the beacon is resolved; then, the base station transmits a message, relayed by a second satellite payload and detectable by a mobile device, encoding two previous positions of the beacon, stamped with time tags. Finally, the mobile device decodes the information about said two previous positions of the beacon, and accordingly estimates the current position of the beacon, accounting for possible different time references.

Tracking assembly

A tracking assembly includes an electronic device. A first tracking unit is provided and the first tracking unit is selectively worn on a first user. The first tracking device is in electrical communication with the electronic device. Moreover, the electronic device programs a predetermined trigger distance into the first tracking unit. A second tracking unit is provided and the second tracking unit is selectively worn on a second user. The second tracking unit is in electrical communication with the first tracking unit to determine a location of the second tracking unit with respect to the first tracking unit. In this way the second tracking unit facilitates the first user to track the second user. The first tracking unit generates an alert when the second tracking unit moves beyond the predetermined trigger distance with respect to the first tracking unit.

Vehicle window breaker tool and alert

A window breaker tool for use on a vehicle includes a body having a handle to enable a user to grip the tool, a glass breaker member extending from the handle configured to contact a glass window with force to break the glass window, and an accelerometer operatively coupled to the body to sense acceleration during impact and generate a signature signal. The tool also includes an RF signal communication device located on the tool for communicating with a plurality of RF signal communication devices on the vehicle to determine a location of the tool relative to the vehicle, wherein the RF signal communication device communicates with a controller for processing the signature signal and determining whether the signature signal is indicative of the tool in use to break a window, and wherein the controller further determines the tool is within the vehicle based on the location and outputs an alert signal.

Vehicle Search And Rescue System
20190096262 · 2019-03-28 ·

A search and rescue system including a first control module for a first vehicle. The first control module is configured to identify when the first vehicle is in a distressed situation based on inputs received from a vehicle status sensor, and generate an emergency message including information regarding the distressed situation. A first transmitter for the first vehicle transmits the emergency message by way of a first antenna. A second control module for a second vehicle receives the emergency message by way of a second receiver for the second vehicle. The second control module relays the emergency message to at least one of a third vehicle and road-side equipment. From the at least one of the third vehicle and road-side equipment the emergency message is relayed to an emergency assistance entity.

Vehicle Communication Management Systems and Methods
20190080614 · 2019-03-14 ·

Example vehicle communication management systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a communication management system determines whether a vehicle can communicate with an external system. If the vehicle is unable to communicate with the external system, the communication management system identifies a neighboring device that can communicate with the external system and communicates vehicle information to the neighboring device. The communication management system also requests the neighboring device to communicate the information, and other details from the neighboring device's perspective, to the external system.

The present teachings provide for a search and rescue system including a first control module for a first vehicle. The first control module is configured to identify when the first vehicle is in a distressed situation based on inputs received from a vehicle status sensor, and generate an emergency message including information regarding the distressed situation. A first transmitter for the first vehicle transmits the emergency message by way of a first antenna. A first receiver for the first vehicle receives a second basic safety message from a second vehicle. A battery powers the first transmitter and the first receiver. A battery management module is configured to measure a charge level of the battery and notify the first control module of the charge level of the battery.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ACTIVATING A RADIO BEACON FOR GLOBAL AIRCRAFT TRACKING

An autonomous distress tracking system for an aircraft is described. The system can include a transponder configured to transmit radio frequency (RF) emissions and an RF detector unit configured to detect the RF emissions. The system can further include an alert system that is in communication with the RF detector unit and be configured to activate a distress radio beacon if no RF emissions are detected within a predetermined period of time.
