A structure for adjusting a support force of a lumbar pillow includes: a back hugger body, a lumbar pillow, an elastic support, and a support adjustment mechanism; wherein a bottom of the back hugger body is hinged to a top of the lumbar pillow, and a back of the back hugger body is provided with a connection arm; one end of the elastic support is connected to a back of the lumbar pillow, and the other end of the elastic support is connected to a front side of the connection arm; and the support adjustment mechanism includes a slide block and a drive assembly connected to the slide block, wherein the slide block is slidably connected between the elastic support and the connection arm and is abutted against a back of the elastic support.

An actuating mechanism for lumbar support in an articulating bed incorporates a support frame for an articulating section having a seat section and an upper body support section. An actuator with a ram is pivotally attached to the upper body support section with a bracket. A lumbar actuation lever is pivotally attached to the ram and extends from a torque tube rotatable in bearing blocks mounted to the upper body support section. A second actuator is pivotally attached to the upper body support section with a second bracket and includes a second ram. At least one angled lifter arm extends from the torque tube and pivotally attaches to at least one lever engaging a lumbar support element through at least one aperture in the upper body support section. An actuator element extends from at least one lever and is connected to the second ram. The actuator element and associated lever rotate about a pivot point on the associated angled lifter arm.

A backrest includes a primary frame having a pair of laterally spaced first uprights defining a first opening therebetween, a first front surface and a first rear surface. A secondary frame includes a pair of laterally spaced second uprights defining a second opening therebetween, a second rear surface facing the first front surface of the primary frame and a second front surface, wherein the secondary frame is coupled to the primary frame, and wherein at least portions of the first and second openings are aligned. A flexible shell overlies and is coupled to the second front surface of the secondary frame. A home or office chair is disclosed having a flexible mesh back rest and a full lumbar back support including upper and lower lumbar supports that are located one above the other at the back of the chair to press against the outside of the mesh back rest. The upper and lower lumbar supports are connected to the back of the chair by a bolt so as to move back and forth in first and opposite directions in response to a user seated in the chair moving his back against and away from the flexible mesh back rest. The upper and lower lumbar supports of the full lumbar back support apply continuous pressure through the mesh back rest to provide support for upper and lower lumbar areas of the user's back regardless of whether the user's back is at rest or pressing against the mesh back rest.
