Method and system for selecting parameters of a seismic source array
A method for selecting parameters of a seismic source array comprising a plurality of source elements each having a notional source spectrum is described, the method comprising calculating a ghost response function of the array; calculating directivity effects of the array; and adjusting the parameters of the array such that the directivity effects of the array are compensated by the ghost response to minimize angular variation of a far field response in a predetermined frequency range. A method for determining a phase center of a seismic source array is also related, the method comprising calculating a far field spectrum of the array at predetermined spherical angles, and minimizing the phase difference between the farfield spectra within a predetermined frequency range by adjusting a vertical reference position from which the spherical angles are defined.

PRIME NUMBER SURVEY DESIGN
Methods of designing seismic survey and acquisition of seismic data with reduced noise using equally or optimally irregularly spaced sources or receivers are described. Specifically, prime number ratios for the station to line spacing is used to prevent harmonic leakage and other noise contaminations in the acquired seismic data.

RETRIEVING THE FUNDAMENTAL MODE OF GROUND-FORCE SIGNAL TO IMPROVE SEISMIC SURVEY
A computer-implemented method includes: accessing ground-force signal traces measured at each source location when applying a pilot sweep signal characterized by a sweeping instantaneous frequency that includes a fundamental component, wherein each ground-force signal trace comprises a fundamental mode signal component as well as at least one harmonic mode signal component; obtaining an analytic function representation for the pilot sweep signal and each ground-force signal trace, wherein the analytic function representation comprises a phase portion; establishing a matrix representation characteristic of the phase portion of the analytic function representation for the fundamental component in the ground-force signal, and wherein the matrix representation is size limited; retrieving, from the analytic function representation for each ground-force signal trace and after inverting the matrix representation, the fundamental mode signal component of the ground-force signal trace; and providing the retrieved fundamental mode signal component of each ground-force signal trace for subsequent data processing.
