Method and apparatus for dynamic roll compensation of streamer for marine geophysical surveying
11841474 · 2023-12-12 · ·

Included are methods and apparatus for marine geophysical surveying. One embodiment of the presently-disclosed solution relates to a method for instantaneous roll compensation of vectorised motion data originating from a fixed-mount geophysical sensor during a marine seismic survey. A streamer is towed behind a survey vessel in a body of water. The streamer includes a plurality of geophysical sensors and a plurality of orientation sensor packages. Vectorised geophysical data is acquired using the plurality of geophysical sensors, while orientation data is acquired by the plurality of orientation sensor packages. The orientation data is used to determine an instantaneous roll angle of the streamer at different positions on the streamer. The vectorised geophysical data is adjusted to compensate for the instantaneous roll angle of the streamer at different positions on the streamer. Other embodiments and features are also disclosed.

Methods, systems, and media for managing wind speed data, seismic data and other natural phenomena data

A system for collecting and managing seismic data via an external communications network comprises one or more seismic stations, each including a seismic measurement apparatus producing seismic signals, a station processor converting the signals to seismic data, a station memory securely storing the seismic data on site and a station communication interface transmitting the seismic data onto an external network. The system further comprises one or more data servers, each including a server computing device, a server communication interface receiving the seismic data from the seismic stations and a server memory storing the received seismic data. The data server can determine if the received seismic data satisfies predetermined conditions for certification and/or triggering a payout in accordance with a contract, and can thereafter transmit the appropriate data signals to another location on the external communications network.

Device and system for performing measurements on a seabed

A device (110) for performing measurements on a seabed (3), comprises a chamber (111) containing a sensor (120) and a fluid (115) at a constant temperature and at an ambient pressure. This removes the need for calibration in large ranges of both pressure and temperature. In addition, this eliminates the need to wait until the sensor (120) has achieved ambient temperature, and thereby achieves a desired accuracy of the recordings from the sensor while decreasing the operation time. The device preferably comprises an insulating layer (113), an internal temperature stabilising device (130) and a circulating device (131) to ensure a constant temperature and low temperature gradients within the chamber (111). The pressure within chamber (111) may be equalised to ambient pressure by a pressure inlet (112).

FREQUENCY BASED METHOD FOR REDUCING THE EFFECT OF MULTIPLES IN SEISMIC DATA

Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable medium to perform operations including: decomposing the seismic data into a plurality of sub-volumes, each sub-volume associated with a respective one of the plurality of frequency components; identifying a portion of the seismic data that includes one or more multiples, the multiples being seismic data associated with multiply reflected seismic energy; identifying, based on the plurality of sub-volumes, the one or more multiples within the portion of the seismic data; and determining, from the plurality of frequency components, a single frequency that gives rise to a predetermined continuity along a primary reflector affected by the one or more multiples.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CALIBRATING TILT SENSOR AND COMPASS OF SENSOR DEVICE FOR MAGNETIC ORIENTATION

A calibration apparatus for calibrating a compass and/or tilt sensor module includes a longitudinal support having a support axis; a first longitudinal member coupled to the longitudinal support to be rotatable around the support axis relative to the longitudinal support and a second longitudinal member connected to the first longitudinal member to be rotatable around a second longitudinal member axis relative to the first longitudinal member. The second longitudinal member axis is perpendicular to the support axis. A third longitudinal member is coupled to the second longitudinal member to be rotatable around a third longitudinal member axis relative to the second longitudinal member, rotatable with the second longitudinal member relative to the first longitudinal member, and rotatable with the first longitudinal member relative to the longitudinal support. The third longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the second longitudinal member axis. The module is connected to the third longitudinal member.

Computing rotation data using a gradient of translational data

Translational data in a first direction is measured by particle motion sensors contained in an elongated housing of a sensor device provided at an earth surface. The particle motion sensors are spaced apart along a second, different direction along a longitudinal axis of the elongated housing. Rotation data around a third direction is computed based at least in part on computing a gradient of the translational data with respect to the second direction.

Seismic sensor station

A seismic sensor station employs a sensor unit that is mounted on a central mounting post attached to the base of a sensor station housing. The only path of mechanically supporting contact that exists between the sensor unit and the base is through the central mounting post.
