Wireless seismic system with phased antenna array
Systems and methods for utilization of a smart antenna in facilitating wireless communication between adjacent seismic data acquisition modules. The smart antenna may target an adjacent module with a radiation pattern directed toward the adjacent module. As such, the modules may employ space division multiplexing techniques to avoid interference between modules in the array. The modules may scan throughout a continuum of positions to locate adjacent modules. Once located, a spatial signal signature may be identified for the adjacent module and beamforming vectors may be calculated for targeting the radiation pattern toward the located module.

The control unit is configured to transmit an unplanned movement signal to a remote operator using the LPWAN radio transceiver if the control unit receives a signal from the motion sensor indicative of an acceleration greater than a preset level. Additionally, he control unit may be configured to change an operating state of the nodal seismic unit in response to detecting a predetermined pattern of motion using the motion sensor.
Method for managing a master vessel change in a multi-vessel seismic system
A method is provided for managing a master vessel change in a multi-vessel seismic system. The system includes a master vessel M and at least one slave vessel. The method includes, during at least a part of a multi-vessel operation: selecting a new master vessel M′ among the at least one slave vessel, triggered by at least one predetermined event; and transmitting, to the at least one slave vessel, at least one piece of information related to a master vessel change from the master vessel M, called old master vessel, to the new master vessel M′.
Method for automatically assigning wireless seismic acquisition units to topographic positions
It is proposed a method for automatically assigning wireless seismic acquisition units to topographic positions, each wireless seismic acquisition unit includes a satellite navigation system receiver. The method has the following steps, carried out by an assigning device: obtaining topographic locations at which the wireless seismic acquisition units are expected to be laid; obtaining measured positions of the wireless seismic acquisition units, corresponding to or derived from position information provided by the satellite navigation system receivers when the wireless seismic acquisition units are installed on the ground, each near one of the topographic locations; and computing associations, each between one of the wireless seismic acquisition units and one of the topographic positions, as a function of a comparison between the measured positions and the topographic locations.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR MANAGING WIND SPEED DATA, SEISMIC DATA AND OTHER NATURAL PHENOMENA DATA
A system for collecting and managing seismic data via an external communications network comprises one or more seismic stations, each including a seismic measurement apparatus producing seismic signals, a station processor converting the signals to seismic data, a station memory securely storing the seismic data on site and a station communication interface transmitting the seismic data onto an external network. The system further comprises one or more data servers, each including a server computing device, a server communication interface receiving the seismic data from the seismic stations and a server memory storing the received seismic data. The data server can determine if the received seismic data satisfies predetermined conditions for certification and/or triggering a payout in accordance with a contract, and can thereafter transmit the appropriate data signals to another location on the external communications network.
Method for Short-Term Prediction of Earthquake Parameters Using Ionospheric Precursors
A method of predicting parameters of an earthquake uses an array of ionosondes to scan an observed volume of an ionosphere located above a seismically active zone. The method includes monitoring ionograms provided by the array of ionosondes; detecting the presence of at least one seismic-induced irregularity (SII); determining a first predicted parameter corresponding to an epicenter location; and determining one or more predicted parameters selected from a group consisting of a magnitude, a time of occurrence, and a hypocenter depth. Algorithms for calculating the predicted parameters are presented in detail.
