Apparatus, computer instructions and method for deghosting seismic data related to a subsurface of a body of water. The method includes inputting data recorded by detectors that are towed by a vessel, the data being associated with waves travelling from the subsurface to the detectors; applying a migration procedure to the data to determine a first image of the subsurface; applying a mirror migration procedure to the data to determine a second image of the subsurface; joint deconvoluting the first image and the second image for deghosting a reflectivity of the subsurface; and generating a final image of the subsurface based on the deghosted reflectivity of the joint deconvoluting step.

Seismic system with ghost and motion rejection

An underwater seismic system for reducing noise due to ghost reflections or motion through the water from seismic signals. The system includes two motion sensors. One sensor has a first response and is sensitive to platform-motion-induced noise as well as to acoustic waves. The other sensor has a different construction that isolates it from the acoustic waves so that its response is mainly to motion noise. The outputs of the two sensor responses are combined to remove the effects of motion noise. When further combined with a hydrophone signal, noise due to ghost reflections is reduced.

Noise models by selection of transform coefficients

A data set representing features of a geologic formation is formed from two or more signal acquisition data set representing independent aspects of the same wavefield. A wavelet transform is performed on the two or more signal acquisition data sets, and the data sets are further transformed to equalize signal portions of the data sets. Remaining differences in the data sets are interpreted as excess noise and are removed by different methods to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of any resulting data set.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ACQUISITION OF SEISMIC DATA

A method may include providing a sensor in a first wellbore segment, providing a sensor in a second wellbore segment, observing upgoing acoustic waves or downgoing acoustic waves with the sensors, and separating the upgoing acoustic waves and/or the downgoing acoustic waves from a total wavefield. The first wellbore segment and the second wellbore segment may be separated by a distance. At least one of the wellbore segments may be non-vertical and/or the first wellbore segment may not be parallel to the second wellbore segment. The first wellbore segment may be part of a first set of wellbores and the second wellbore segment may be part of a second set of wellbores. The separated upgoing and downgoing acoustic waves may be used to generate deghosted data.

DETERMINING DISPLACEMENT BETWEEN SEISMIC IMAGES USING OPTICAL FLOW

A method for aligning a plurality of seismic images associated with a subsurface region of the Earth may include receiving the seismic images and determining a first respective relative shift volume between a first seismic image and a second seismic image, a second respective relative shift volume between the first seismic image and a third seismic image, and a third respective relative shift volume between the second seismic image and the third seismic image. The method may include determining a first shift volume associated with the first seismic image and a second shift volume associated with the second seismic image based on the first, second, and third respective relative shift volumes. The method may then apply the first shift volume to the first seismic image and the second shift volume to the second seismic image.

A method for processing an image includes receiving an input image including a signal and noise, and generating a filtered image based on the input image by removing at least a portion of the noise from the input image. A portion of the signal is also removed from the input image. The method further includes generating a residual image based on the input image. The residual image comprises the at least a portion of the noise and the portion of the signal that are removed from the input image to generate the filtered image. The method also includes identifying at least some of the portion of the signal that is in the residual image, and inserting the at least some of the portion of the signal identified in the residual image into the filtered image.

DEBLENDED AND DEGHOSTED SEISMIC DATA

Deblending and deghosting seismic data may include processing blended seismic data acquired after actuation of a first seismic source located at a first depth and a second seismic source located at a second depth. The processing may comprise deblending and deghosting the blended seismic data based on a difference in ghost responses of the first seismic source and the second seismic source.
