Presence detection system and method

A presence detection system includes a support layer operable to act as an underlying surface for supporting object(s), a sensor layer disposed beneath the support layer and operable to output readings indicating the presence of object(s) supported on the support layer and a controller for receiving the presence readings from the sensor layer and determining, based on the readings, an indicator of the occupancy status and/or an occupancy level of the support layer. The presence detection system can be used within an access gate system whereby the access gate is operated to a blocking position upon the presence detection system detecting more than one human supported on the support layer, this operation overriding a reading of an authenticated user token. The presence detection system can also be used within an elevator system wherein the elevator door subsystem and the elevator displacement subsystem are controlled based on an occupancy level detected by the detection system. Methods for detecting object are also contemplated.

The light-emitting system includes a light source including a plurality of light-emitting elements disposed in one-axis direction. The light-emitting system emits light. The light-receiving system receives the light emitted from the light-emitting system and reflected by an object. The plurality of light-emitting elements emits a plurality of light beams to a plurality of areas differing in the one-axis direction. The amount of light to illuminate some of the plurality of areas is different from the amount of light to illuminate other area other than the some of the plurality of areas.

An object detector includes a light-emitting system and a light-receiving system. CONTROLLING LIGHTING LOADS TO ACHIEVE A DESIRED LIGHTING PATTERN

A visible light sensor may be configured to sense environmental characteristics of a space using an image of the space. The visible light sensor may be controlled in one or more modes, including a daylight glare sensor mode, a daylighting sensor mode, a color sensor mode, and/or an occupancy/vacancy sensor mode. In the daylight glare sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to decrease or eliminate glare within a space. In the daylighting sensor mode and the color sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to provide a preferred amount of light and color temperature, respectively, within the space. In the occupancy/vacancy sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to detect an occupancy/vacancy condition within the space and adjust one or more control devices according to the occupation or vacancy of the space. The visible light sensor may be configured to protect the privacy of users within the space via software, a removable module, and/or a special sensor.

A presence detection system includes a presence detection field of an amusement park attraction, multiple transmitters, multiple receivers, and a controller. The multiple transmitters send multiple light beams of multiple wavelengths and the multiple receivers receive the multiple light beams of the multiple wavelengths. The controller receives input from the multiple transmitters and receivers and determines presence of an object in the presence detection field based on an interruption of the multiple light beams as indicated by the input. The controller also determines reflected light beams of the multiple wavelengths, absorbed light beams of the multiple wavelengths, or both, based on the input. The controller determines the object as a known object or an unknown object based at least in part on the reflected light beams, the absorbed light beams, or both.

DETECTION DEVICE AND DETECTION METHOD

A detection device detects a position of a leading end of a tip for executing an operation on a cell via the leading end, the tip including the leading end in a lower portion thereof. The detection device includes a light source that outputs light in a lateral direction such that the light has a width when viewed along an up-and-down direction, a movement mechanism that moves the tip, and a detector that detects the light output from the light source, wherein the light output from the light source until being detected by the detector includes first light and second light that advance in respective lateral directions that are different from each other, the movement mechanism moves the tip such that a part of the first light and a part of the second light are blocked by the leading end, and the detector detects the first light and the second light whose parts are blocked by the leading end.

DETECTION DEVICE AND DETECTION METHOD

A detection device detects a position of a leading end of a tip for executing an operation on a cell via the leading end, the tip including the leading end in a lower portion thereof. The detection device includes a light source that outputs light in a lateral direction such that the light has a width when viewed along an up-and-down direction, a movement mechanism that moves the tip, and a detector that detects the light output from the light source, wherein the light output from the light source until being detected by the detector includes first light and second light that advance in respective lateral directions that are different from each other, the movement mechanism moves the tip such that a part of the first light and a part of the second light are blocked by the leading end, and the detector detects the first light and the second light whose parts are blocked by the leading end.

Use of thermopiles to detect human location

A method of detecting presence and location uses sensor data received from a plurality of thermopiles, each thermopile having a different field of view. In response to detecting a change in the sensor data, stored background values for each field of view are accessed and then the location of a body (e.g. a human or animal)is determined based on differences between the sensor data and sensor values predicted using a forward model and the stored background values for each field of view. Having determined the location, the stored background values are updated based on differences between the sensor data and the predicted sensor values for a body at the determined location.

Use of thermopiles to detect human location

A method of detecting presence and location uses sensor data received from a plurality of thermopiles, each thermopile having a different field of view. In response to detecting a change in the sensor data, stored background values for each field of view are accessed and then the location of a body (e.g. a human or animal)is determined based on differences between the sensor data and sensor values predicted using a forward model and the stored background values for each field of view. Having determined the location, the stored background values are updated based on differences between the sensor data and the predicted sensor values for a body at the determined location.
