APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING INFORMATION FROM A WELL
A system for drilling a well may be adapted to process signals received from a fiber optic cable located in the casing of a previously drilled well or wells. The fiber optic cable may act as a distributed sensor receiving acoustic signals generated during the drilling of the well, and the system may be programmed to process the signals from the fiber optic cable to locate the borehole of the well being drilled, including its location relative to the previously drilled well or well. The system may be used to automatically update a well plan for the well being drilled responsive to information about the location of the borehole and also may be used to automatically adjust one or more drilling parameters or drilling operations responsive to the location of the second well borehole.
Ring assembly for measurement while drilling, logging while drilling and well intervention
System and methods for measuring properties within a subterranean well include a ring assembly. The ring assembly includes a structural ring sized with a ring inner diameter to circumscribe a tubular string and a ring outer diameter to fit within a bore of the subterranean well. A measurement tool is integrated with the structural ring. Wheels are spaced around an inner diameter surface of the structural ring.
Systems and Methods for Holding Wireline Device Against Well
A system includes a cable and a toolstring. The toolstring may couple to the cable to enable the toolstring to be placed in a wellbore. The toolstring includes a sensor that can collect measurements relating to the wellbore. An electromagnetic or anchoring device may selectively hold the toolstring or the cable against a surface of the wellbore.
Downhole activation of seismic tools
A well tool for sensing seismic activity at a downhole location has an anchoring mechanism for mechanically coupling the tool to a formation by contact engagement with a wall of a subterranean cavity in which the well tool is located. The anchoring mechanism is deployable by a pressure-triggered hydraulic actuator incorporated in the tool. The actuator is configured for pressure-triggered activation and for hydraulic actuation by agency of borehole fluids (e.g., drilling mud). The actuator can provide a persistent contacting force urging the anchoring mechanism into contact with the cavity wall, to promote firm coupling with the formation for seismic sensoring purposes.
High Resolution Composite Seismic Imaging, Systems and Methods
There is provided system and methods for providing enhanced high definition of subterranean activities, and structures using migrate data from two independent sources. There are provided systems and methods for imaging and the resultant and images showing hydraulic fracturing and hydraulic fractures.
Systems and methods employing an acoustic caliper tool with tool inclination correction
A method that includes deploying an acoustic caliper tool in a borehole, the tool having several axially-spaced acoustic transceivers; obtaining acoustic signal reflection measurements for the transceivers; estimating a distance-to-boundary value for the transceivers based on reflection measurements; calculating a tool inclination angle based on the distance-to-boundary values; and deriving a correction value based on the angle. A system that includes an acoustic caliper tool having several axially-spaced acoustic transceivers to obtain reflection measurements; at least one processor; and at least one memory in communication with the processor, the memory storing instructions that cause the processor to: receive the acoustic signal reflection measurements; estimate a distance-to-boundary value for the transceivers based on the reflection measurements; calculate a tool inclination angle based on the distance-to-boundary values; and derive a correction value based on the angle.
Fit for purpose measurement system for drill hole logging
A drill hole logging system (5) incorporates a computing system (58) at the surface and a deployment mechanism (40) for conveying a logging tool (10) configured to measure one or more geophysical parameters into a drill hole (20). A transmission means (57) communicates commands and data representing the geophysical parameters between the surface computing system and the logging tool. A borehole caliper (300) is employed to profile the inside of the borehole.
Reservoir recovery simulation process and system
A method and system for simulating reservoir recovery include taking into account inaccuracies in well spacing due to wellbore positional uncertainty.

System and method for correction of downhole measurements
An embodiment of a system for estimating a parameter of an earth formation includes at least one formation parameter sensor disposed at a first downhole component and configured to measure a parameter of an earth formation to generate formation parameter data, and one or more processors in operable communication with the at least one formation parameter sensor. The one or more processors are configured to perform: generating a mechanics model of at least one of the first downhole component and a second downhole component, the mechanics model based on geometrical data representing at least one of the first downhole component and the second downhole component; estimating a misalignment of the at least one formation parameter sensor by using the mechanics model; and correcting the formation parameter data based on the misalignment.
