Apparatus and methods for automated slide drilling
An automated slide drilling system (ASDS) may be used with a drilling rig system to control slide drilling. The ASDS may autonomously control slide drilling without user input during the slide drilling. The ASDS may further support a transition from rotary drilling to slide drilling to rotary drilling without user input during the transitions. The ASDS may also support user input and user notifications for various steps to enable manual or semi-manual control of slide drilling by a driller or an operator.
Integrated logging tool
An integrated logging tool includes an outer housing and an insert, the insert positioned within the outer housing. The integrated logging tool further includes a gamma sensor within the insert.
Method for synchronizing acoustic asynchronous serial signals while drilling
In a method for synchronizing acoustic asynchronous serial signals while drilling, communication and high-voltage signal isolation between a transmitting terminal and a receiving master control board are realized in an asynchronous serial communication way. The receiving master control board serving as a master control terminal configures parameters for the transmitting terminal in the asynchronous serial communication way and controls the excitation of a sound source. The transmitting terminal is a synchronous sound source excitation signal initiator; signal synchronization is realized under an asynchronous communication condition due to the coordination of the transmitting terminal and the receiving master control board; the transmitting terminal includes a plurality of transmitting boards, and asynchronous serial communication between each of the transmitting boards and the receiving master control board is realized through two data lines R+ and R.
AUTONOMOUS LOGGING-WHILE-DRILLING ASSEMBLY
The present application pertains to a self-powered logging-while-drilling assembly. The assembly has a body comprising a releasable hatch and a battery within said body configured to power the assembly. A memory and/or processor may be employed with a resistivity micro-imager and/or a spectral gamma sensor.
Predicting wellbore operation parameters
A system for use in a wellbore can include a computing device that includes a processing device and a memory device that stores instructions executable by the processing device. The instructions can cause the processing device to generate a predicted value of a parameter associated with a well environment or with a wellbore operation. The instructions can also cause the processing device to receive sensor data that includes a measured value of the parameter; compare the predicted value to the measured value to determine a difference; and generate an interface for display that includes a data point associated with the difference plotted on a probability-mass distribution graph. The system can also include a sensor in electrical communication with the computing device and positionable proximate to the wellbore for generating the measured value of the parameter and transmitting the measured value of the parameter to the computing device.
Method and system for imaging dipping structures
A method for imaging one or more dipping structures is provided. The method comprises providing a given velocity model, calculating travel time of a seismic wave using the velocity model, estimating coherency of event signals of array data that are time-corrected for a trial reflector, weighting a waveform sample corresponding to the travel time based on the coherency, and mapping the weighted waveform sample.
Plunger lift state estimation and optimization using acoustic data
A method of probabilistically estimating a velocity of a plunger of a beam pump may comprise continuously monitoring well acoustics using a plurality of passive acoustic sensors attached to external structures of the beam pump; digitizing outputs of the plurality of passive acoustic sensors and sending the digitized outputs to a computing device for storage and processing; and using the digitized outputs of the plurality of passive acoustic sensors, estimating a probability of the velocity of the plunger using a hidden Markov model (HMM) to represent a probability of a position and the probability of the velocity of the plunger, the HMM comprising a state space model and an observational model.
SENSOR FUSION AND MODEL CALIBRATION FOR BIT ATTITUDE PREDICTION
Techniques for estimating a current inclination and azimuth of a drill bit of a wellbore drilling system are described. The estimates for the current inclination and azimuth are generated using measurements obtained for one or more parameters associated with the drilling process performed by the drill bit and taken over a range of the wellbore falling within a sliding window having a predefined distance D extending along the wellbore.
Downhole tool with CATR
A system, downhole tool, and method for lowering the downhole tool having a compact antenna test range (CATR) system into a wellbore in a geological formation to monitor a property downhole in the wellbore via the downhole tool.
