Method for estimating quantitative precipitation by combining observation data of weather radar and rain gauges
A method for estimating quantitative precipitation by combining observation data of a weather radar and rain gauges includes: acquiring original accumulated data of rain gauges and original accumulated precipitation data of a weather radar to obtain rain gauge-weather radar data G/R pairs matched in the same grid; calculating an observation error of the original accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar through the G/R pairs, and detecting abnormal data to generate an initial correction factor field; determining whether a distance correlation exists between the initial correction factor field and the observation error, and if yes, adjusting the initial correction factor field, and correcting the original accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar through the adjusted correction factor field to obtain corrected accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar; and if not, obtaining the corrected accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar directly through a mean field bias (MFB) factor.
SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING THERMAL COMFORT
A system includes first and second acquisition units that acquire first and second biological information of a target, and an estimation unit. The first acquisition unit includes at least one first sensor. The second acquisition unit includes at least one second sensor different from the at least one first sensor. The estimation unit estimates a thermal comfort of the target based on the first and second biological information. The estimation unit further estimates a first thermal comfort of the target based on the first biological information, and the thermal comfort of the target based on the first and second biological information. When the second acquisition unit does not acquire the second biological information, the estimation unit sets, as the thermal comfort of the target, the first thermal comfort that is corrected using previous thermal comfort of the target estimated by the estimation unit based on at least the second biological information previously acquired by the second acquisition unit.
Short-term weather forecasting using hybrid data
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating weather forecasting modules from historical weather data, including unstructured and structured data. The weather forecasting modules each comprise at least one model, such as a neural network, that generates a forecast from input weather data. Each module may be focused on a particular region, weather variable, and or forecasting time period. Unstructured data may be analyzed by the system to generate weather-related variables which are combined with structured weather data to generate a combined weather feature set that is input to the model. Alternatively, unstructured data may be input directly in the module, with or without preprocessing. The weather forecasts can then be used to forecast various power-generation related variables or events, including power generation, electrical load, etc.

Adjusting Vehicle Sensor Field Of View Volume
An example method includes receiving, from one or more sensors associated with an autonomous vehicle, sensor data associated with a target object in an environment of the vehicle during a first environmental condition, where at least one sensor of the sensor(s) is configurable to be associated with one of a plurality of operating field of view volumes. The method also includes based on the sensor data, determining at least one parameter associated with the target object. The method also includes determining a degradation in the parameter(s) between the sensor data and past sensor data, where the past sensor data is associated with the target object in the environment during a second environmental condition different from the first and, based on the degradation, adjusting the operating field of view volume of the at least one sensor to a different one of the operating field of view volumes.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VERIFYING REDUCED VISIBILITY EVENT WARNINGS
A method, apparatus and computer program product for determining a reduced visibility event warning are described herein. In the context of a method, a location corresponding with a reduced visibility event warning may be identified. Information regarding visibility at one or more stationary positions based upon the location of the reduced visibility event warning may be received from one or more remote devices (e.g., sensing apparatuses). The method may determine a reduced visibility event warning confidence for the location corresponding with a reduced visibility event warning based upon the information regarding visibility. The method may cause the reduced visibility event warning to be published in an instance in which the reduced visibility event warning confidence satisfies a confidence threshold.
