The invention relates to a sound dampening device (1) comprising a frame (2), a rear layer (4) and a front layer (6) arranged on opposite sides of the frame (2), such that the frame (2), the rear layer (4) and the front layer (6) forms an enclosed space, wherein a first sound absorbing layer (8) is arranged between the rear layer (4) and the front layer (6). A cavity (10) is formed between the rear layer (4) and the first sound absorbing layer (8) and an air purifying device (12) is arranged in fluid communication with said cavity (10), such that purified air from the air purifying device (12) is supplied to the cavity (10) via an inlet (14) and is discharged through at least one opening (16) in the first sound absorbing layer (8) and at least one output zone (18) in the front layer (6).

The apparatus includes a headboard having an air flow outlet adjacent to the defined space and an air flow inlet incorporated into the bed or the headboard outside of the defined space. The apparatus then provides a conduit for transporting air from the inlet to the outlet, an air treatment module within or adjacent the conduit for extracting air-borne contaminants from air transported from the air flow inlet to the air flow outlet, and an air flow generator within or adjacent the conduit for generating air flow between the air flow inlet and the air flow outlet. The air flow outlet then has a plenum within the headboard, and the plenum deposits air into the defined space through an outlet area having a porous surface, the outlet area being otherwise substantially unobstructed.

A bed frame assembly has diagonal struts that lock leg supports into place using novel locking mechanisms. A leg support is pivotally attached to the bedboard frame, and a slotted bracket is welded to a cross bar of the frame. One end of a diagonal strut is pivotally attached to the leg support, and a bolt with a conical washer and a wing nut is attached to the other end. The strut is attached to the slotted bracket by inserting the bolt into a curved slot in the bracket. The bracket also includes a stopper brace that extends perpendicular to the body of the bracket. A side of the end of the strut pushes against the stopper brace when the conical washer is pressed into the end of the curved slot and the wing nut is tightened. The stopper brace prevents the bolt from sliding out of the curved slot.

A leg support is pivotally attached to a cross bar, and a slotted bracket is attached to another cross bar. A bolt with a conical washer is attached to a first end of a diagonal strut, and the second end is pivotally attached to the leg support. The diagonal strut is attached to the slotted bracket by inserting the bolt into a rounded slot and by pressing the conical washer down into a round opening of the rounded slot using a wing nut. The round opening is disposed at the end of a channel whose width is slightly larger than the diameter of the bolt. The diameter of the round opening is larger than the width of the channel and smaller than the largest diameter of a coned portion of the conical washer.
