Small portable night vision system

Night vision systems that are compact in size due to one or more of the design of the optical system and light detector module.

Fusion night vision system

A fusion night vision system has a plurality of hinged joints that allow an operator to adjust the distance between the left eye piece and the right eyepiece while allowing a row of pixels from a display to be maintained viewable through the right eye piece parallel with an imaginary line formed by an optical axis of the left eye piece with an optical axis of the right eye piece.

A night vision goggle adapter including: a goggle mount assembly; a primary magnet generating a magnetic flux; a magnetic flux conducting unit having a first end and a second end; a first plurality of shunts; and a second plurality of shunts disposed about the goggle mount assembly; wherein the magnetic flux conducting unit may overlap the primary magnet and form a magnetic circuit for conducting the magnetic flux towards the second end of the magnetic flux conducting unit when none of the first plurality of shunts and none of the second plurality of shunts are overlapped by the magnetic flux conducting unit; and wherein the magnetic flux is shorted through one of the first plurality of shunts or the second plurality of shunts when the magnetic flux conducting unit is positioned to overlap one of the first plurality of shunts or one of the second plurality of shunts.

Eye Tracking Based On Waveguide Imaging

An optical system includes an optical waveguide, and a first optical element configured to direct a first ray, having a first circular polarization and impinging on the first optical element at a first incidence angle, in a first direction so that the first ray propagates through the optical waveguide via total internal reflection toward a second optical element. The first optical element is configured to also direct a second ray, having a second circular polarization that is distinct from the first circular polarization and impinging on the first optical element at the first incidence angle, in a second direction that is distinct from the first direction so that the second ray propagates away from the second optical element. The second optical element is configured to direct the first ray propagating through the optical waveguide toward a detector.

DYNAMIC QUALITY PROXY PLURAL CAMERA IMAGE BLENDING

Examples are disclosed that relate to blending different types of images captured by different types of cameras employing different sensing modalities based on a dynamic weighting. The dynamic weighting is calculated based on a dynamic quality proxy that serves as an approximation of image quality that may change from image to image. In one example, a first image of a scene is received from a first camera. A dynamic quality proxy is received. A second image of the scene is received from a second camera with a different sensing modality than the first camera. A composite image blended from the first and second images in proportion to a dynamic weighting that is based on the dynamic quality proxy is output.

A novel viewing device mount includes a base and a first articulating arm. The first articulating arm includes a proximal end movably coupled to the base and a distal end configured to couple an optical device to the first articulating arm. The articulating arm further includes a first joint and a second joint. The first joint facilitates angular displacement of the optical axis of the optical device and the second joint facilitates translational displacement of the optical axis of the optical device. In a more particular embodiment, the viewing device further includes a second articulating arm having a proximal end coupled to the base and a distal end configured to couple a second optical device to the second articulating arm. In another particular embodiment, the base is configured to be removably attached to a head worn device such as, for example, a combat helmet.

The present invention is an optical assembly featuring an architecture which allows adjustment of both objective lenses and the electronic sensing assemblies in the optical assembly. Electrical connections in the housings of the various subassemblies allow focusing adjustment by rotational and/or translational movement for increased adjustability.

Head-mounted display with low light operation

A display system includes a controller and a head-mounted display. The head-mounted display includes a display, a head support coupled to the display for supporting the display on a head of a user to be viewed by the user, and sensors coupled to the head support for sensing an environment from the head-mounted display unit in low light. The sensors include one or more of an infrared sensor for sensing the environment with infrared electromagnetic radiation, or a depth sensor for sensing distances to objects of the environment, and also include an ultrasonic sensor for sensing the environment with ultrasonic sound waves. The controller determines graphical content according to the sensing of the environment with the one or more of the infrared sensor or the depth sensor and with the ultrasonic sensor, and operates the display to provide the graphical content concurrent with the sensing of the environment.

Single actuation goggle positioning mounting assembly

A mounting device having a mounting assembly for mounting a pair of goggles to a helmet is provided. The mounting assembly is configured to provide at least three degrees of freedom of movement using one or more actuation mechanisms for locking and unlocking a position of the mounting device. The number of actuation mechanisms is less than a number of degrees of freedom. In some aspects, the number of actuation mechanisms is one. A rotation base connects the mounting assembly to the helmet, and a goggle linkage connects the mounting assembly to the goggles. Various single actuation mechanisms, including a sliding mechanism, a friction-based wire/brake mechanism, and a floating friction brake mechanism, are provided.
