A binocular assembly includes a first optical pathway extending from a flat plate mirror to a first eyepiece assembly. The first optical pathway includes a first penta-right angle prism, a first optical focusing assembly located along a first focusing axis for focusing the first optical pathway from the first penta-right angle prism, and a first pair of right-angle prisms located along a first prism axis. The binocular assembly also includes a second optical pathway extending from the flat plate mirror to a second eyepiece assembly. The second optical pathway includes a second penta-right angle prism, a second optical focusing assembly located along a second focusing axis for focusing the second optical pathway from the second penta-right angle prism, and a second pair of right-angle prisms located along a second prism axis.

A magnifying lamp with a camera, and a system comprising the magnifying lamp are provided. The magnifying lamp includes a lamp head including a magnifying lens, a light source, and the camera, and an arm supporting the lamp head. The camera is capable of capturing a still image or a video. The magnifying lamp further includes a port or other connection for communicating with an external device to send image data from the camera to the external device.

A user-wearable examination/visualization/collection system with light enhancement comprising a carrier suitable for the retention of a lighting assembly and a viewing and collection system is presented wherein images or video of objects may be collected under natural (i.e., white) light and/or colored light (e.g., IR) conditions, processed and presented to a user on a local display. Further disclosed are lighting assemblies that provide for the light necessary to collect images different lighting conditions and optical filtering that allows for a limitation of the light viewable and collected.

A supporting case for use with a smart device such as a smart phone to assist a visually impaired individual. The case has a lower surface for positioning over a viewing surface containing material to be viewed by the individual and a pocket configured and dimensioned to receive and support the smart device. The case includes one or both of a lifting system for lifting and holding the case hands-free at a pre-set distance above the material to be viewed and a distance viewing system to view material not underneath the case.
