Multibeam diffraction grating-based color backlighting includes a plate light guide, a multibeam diffraction grating at a surface of the plate light guide, and light sources laterally displaced from one another in a direction corresponding to a propagation axis of the plate light guide. The light sources produce light of different colors. The plate light guide is to guide light from the light sources. The multibeam diffraction grating is to couple out a portion of the guided light using diffractive coupling as a plurality of light beams of different colors in a plurality of different principal angular directions.

Imaging device for imaging at least one object

An imaging device and method for imaging an object, such as for multispectral or hyperspectral imaging, are disclosed. The imaging device includes an image sensor located in an image plane of the imaging device. The image sensor includes photosensitive elements. A first imaging system is configured to generate an intermediate image of the object in an intermediate image plane. A second imaging system is configured to generate an image of the intermediate image on the image sensor in the image plane. A diffractive optical element is arranged in the intermediate image plane. An aperture is arranged in a beam path of the second imaging system between the intermediate image plane and the image sensor. The diffractive optical element, the second imaging system, and the aperture are arranged such that different images for different wavelengths of the intermediate image are generated on different groups of the photosensitive elements.

Image sensor with an integrated infrared cut-off filter

Imaging systems with an integrated infrared cut off filter and methods for operating same. One example system includes an image sensor and an electronic processor coupled to the image sensor. The image sensor includes a plurality of image recording pixels and a plurality of reserved pixels. A subset of the plurality of reserved pixels are covered by an infrared cut-off filter. The electronic processor is configured to determine a first visible light intensity for the subset of the plurality of reserved pixels. The electronic processor is further configured to control the image sensor to operate in one of a day mode and a night mode based on the first visible light intensity.
