Wide field-of-view polarization switches with liquid crystal optical elements with pretilt
A switchable optical assembly comprises a switchable waveplate configured to be electrically activated and deactivated to selectively alter the polarization state of light incident thereon. The switchable waveplate comprises first and second surfaces and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second surfaces. The first liquid crystal layer comprises a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. Said first and second surfaces may be curved. Said plurality of liquid crystal molecules may vary in tilt with respect to said first and second surfaces with outward radial distance from an axis through said first and second surfaces and said liquid crystal layer in a plurality of radial directions. The switchable waveplate additionally comprises a first plurality of electrodes to apply an electrical signal across said first liquid crystal layer.
AUGMENTED REALITY DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD
An augmented reality display device including a virtual image display and a controller is provided. The virtual image display is configured to provide a left eye virtual image and a right eye virtual image to a left eye and a right eye of a user, respectively. The controller is electrically connected to the virtual image display, and is configured to command the virtual image display to display a left eye virtual mark and a right eye virtual mark, corresponding to a real mark in space, in the left eye virtual image and the right eye virtual image, respectively, and calculate an interpupillary distance between the left eye and the right eye according to a deviation of the left eye virtual mark with respect to the real mark and a deviation of the right eye virtual mark with respect to the real mark.
Multibeam element-based head-up display, system, and method
A head-up display and a multiview head-up display system provide a plurality of different views of a multiview image combined with a view of a physical environment to an eye box as a combined view. The head-up display includes a multibeam element-based display configured to provide the different views of the multiview image and an optical combiner configured to relay the different views to the eye box along with the view of the physical environment view. The multibeam element-based display includes an array of multibeam elements configured to provide a plurality of directional light beams having directions corresponding to respective view directions of the plurality of different views and an array of light valves configured to modulate the plurality of directional light beams to provide the multiview image.
IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS
An image display apparatus including one or more virtual-image screens, a display section, and a display control unit. The one or more virtual-image screens are arranged to cover at least a part of a periphery of a predetermined axis, display a virtual image of a projected image by using the predetermined axis as a basis, and are transparent. The display section has one or more display surfaces that display a plurality of viewpoint images in mutually different directions and project the plurality of displayed viewpoint images onto the one or more virtual-image screens, respectively, the plurality of viewpoint images being images of a display target as viewed from mutually different directions. The display control unit displays, a virtual image of the display target that is visible from a second direction extending toward the predetermined axis from the observation point.
Microscope made with CMOS camera(s)
A medical/surgical microscope with two cameras configured to capture two dimensional images of specimens being observed. The medical/surgical microscope is secured to a control apparatus configured to adjust toe-in of the two cameras to insure the convergence of the images. The medical/surgical microscope includes a computer system with a non-transitory memory apparatus for storing computer program code configured for digitally rendering real-world medical/surgical images. The medical/surgical microscope has an illumination system with controls for focusing and regulating the lighting of a specimen. The medical/surgical microscope is configured for real-time video display with the function of recording and broadcasting simultaneously during surgery.
Stereoscopic image display device, stereoscopic image display method, and program
[Problem] The present invention provides a stereoscopic image display device, stereoscopic image display method, and a program capable of displaying the display target with a constant size and a constant aspect ratio even when the distance between the stereoscopic image display device and the user changes. [Solution to Problem] The present invention provides a stereoscopic image display device comprising: a display part; an acquisition part configured to acquire an observation viewing distance that is a viewing distance from the display part to a user; and an adjustment part configured to adjust a display state of a display image based on a reference viewing distance and the observation viewing distance, wherein the display part is configured to display a stereoscopic image based on the display state.
System for 3D image projections and viewing
Shaped glasses have curved surface lenses with spectrally complementary filters disposed thereon. The filters curved surface lenses are configured to compensate for wavelength shifts occurring due to viewing angles and other sources. Complementary images are projected for viewing through projection filters having passbands that pre-shift to compensate for subsequent wavelength shifts. At least one filter may have more than 3 primary passbands. For example, two filters include a first filter having passbands of low blue, high blue, low green, high green, and red, and a second filter having passbands of blue, green, and red. The additional passbands may be utilized to more closely match a color space and white point of a projector in which the filters are used. The shaped glasses and projection filters together may be utilized as a system for projecting and viewing 3D images.
