VOLUMETRIC DISPLAY
20220342231 · 2022-10-27 ·

A volumetric display capable of high-speed image presentation includes a resonance-type liquid lens having a focal length that is periodically adjusted using resonance of a liquid. An image projector projects an image toward a viewpoint position of a user via the resonance-type liquid lens. Further, the image projector projects an image toward the viewpoint position within a shorter time period than one-tenth of a variation cycle of the focal length. The image projector includes an LED and a DMD, for example.

A pulsed laser output section outputs a laser beam having a predetermined wavelength as first pulses. An optical path determining section receives the first pulses and determines one among a plurality of optical paths for each of the first pulses for output. A parallelizing section parallelizes a traveling direction of light beams traveling, respectively, through the plurality of optical paths. A wavelength changing section receives outputs from the parallelizing section and changes the outputs to have different wavelengths for output. A focusing section receives and focuses outputs from the wavelength changing section. An optical fiber receives an output from the focusing section at a core end face. A timing control section is arranged to time outputs from the optical path determining section to the output of the first pulses. The focusing section is arranged to focus the outputs from the wavelength changing section on the core end face.

REAL-TIME MODIFICATION OF LINE FOCUS INTENSITY DISTRIBUTION

Methods, systems, devices, and substrates are described. In some examples, an apparatus may include optical components configured to adjust an input to a laser cutting optic for modifying a substrate (e.g., an optically transmissive substrate). In some examples, the optical components may include a beam deflector, a first optic configured to output a first laser beam with a first beam width, and a second optic configured to output a second laser beam with a second beam width. In some examples, the beam deflector may modify an optical path of a pulsed laser (e.g., through the first optic or through the second optic), which may result in an input to the laser cutting optic having a beam width corresponding to the first optic or the second optic. The different input beam widths may modify a line focus intensity of an output of the laser cutting optic when modifying the substrate.
