Simultaneous single obverse and reverse imaging of collectible items

An imaging system is configured to capture images of both obverse and reverse sides of a collectible item using a single image captured by a single camera. The reflective faces of two flat mirrors are positioned at a 90-degree angle, and a collectible item is positioned and secured between the mirrors such that parallel faces of the item or its case are oriented at a 45-degree angle between the flat mirrors. A camera is mounted to face the mirrors with its perspective being parallel to the faces of the item, looking into the mirrors. The camera can see mirrored reflections of both faces of the item simultaneously from a single perspective and can capture views of both faces in a single camera image. The single image can then be cropped and reverse-mirrored automatically or manually in software to extract images of the obverse and reverse sides of the item.

In one aspect, the present invention is directed to a photo terminal stand system, comprising: a light-opaque case, in which a front facet thereof is a tempered one-way reflective mirror; a display, mounted behind the one-way mirror, such that a graphical presentation presented by the display is seen outside the case through the one-way mirror; a camera, mounted behind the one-way mirror, for taking a stills photo or a video sequence; an input device using an infrared touch overlay frame, for providing coordinates of the mirror on which a user touches; and a computer, configured to receive from the input device which a user touches the coordinates thereof and responsively generate the graphical presentation, and activate the camera to record an image or a video sequence, wherein the system is adapted to convert the coordinates of a point the user touches on the mirror to the coordinates of the display.

Optic for enabling instantaneously 360° Degree Panoramic Video of the Surroundings
20170048455 · 2017-02-16 ·

A panoramic optical element that integrates a mirrored sphere surface positioned at a specific length perpendicular to the focus point of the video camera. The sphere reflects the 360 environment into the lens of the video camera installed below the rear view mirror of a vehicle. The use of one video camera to capture 360 field of view is significant because it does not employ any moving parts to capture the 360 image. The recorded image output is in the form of a circular video image that can later be converted by using a software package that digitizes the pixel points into a rectilinear image. The embodiment can be used to capture a continuous loop recording of the operation of a motor vehicle by capturing the outside environment along with the vehicle's operator and incumbents or passengers or for other applications where a 360 panoramic view is required.
