A projection unit has a zoom adjustment unit, an image-plane correction unit, a first drive unit, and a solenoid-actuator. The zoom adjustment unit enlarges or reduces a projected-image by moving a first lens group in a K direction. The image-plane correction unit performs image-plane correction on the projected-image by moving a second lens group in the K direction. The first drive unit includes a switching-gear, drives the zoom adjustment unit in a state in which the switching-gear is connected to the zoom adjustment unit, and drives the image-plane correction unit in a state in which the switching-gear is connected to the image-plane correction unit. In a case of driving one of the zoom adjustment unit and the image-plane correction unit, the solenoid-actuator switches the switching-gear from the other of the zoom adjustment unit and the image-plane correction unit to one of the zoom adjustment unit and the image-plane correction unit.

A projector includes a polarization changing mechanism and a polarized beam splitter. The polarization changing mechanism is movable. A first polarized beam is configured to pass or not pass through the polarization changing mechanism. The first polarized beam transforms into a second polarized beam when the first polarized beam passes through the polarization changing mechanism. The polarized beam splitter has a light splitting surface. The first polarized beam enters the polarized beam splitter and is guided by the light splitting surface to travel in a first direction, when the first polarized beam does not pass through the polarization changing mechanism. The second polarized beam enters the polarized beam splitter and is guided by the light splitting surface to travel in the first direction or a second direction, when the first polarized beam passes through the polarization changing mechanism and transforms into the second polarized beam.

Optical element and projection device using the same

An optical element includes a prism and a light blocking member. The prism has a first surface, a second surface and a third surface. The first surface is connected to the second surface. The third surface is connected between the first and second surfaces and opposite to a light valve of a projection device. The first surface reflects an image light beam from the light valve to allow the image light beam to pass through the second surface. The light blocking member is disposed on the prism and includes a first light blocking portion and a second light blocking portion adjacent to each other. The first light blocking portion shields a part of the first surface adjacent to the second surface, and the second light blocking portion shields a part of the second surface adjacent to the first surface. A projection device using the optical element is also provided.

A method for controlling an optical device including a movable section including an optical section that refracts incident video image light in accordance with the angle of incidence of the video image light and outputs the refracted video image light and a holding section that supports the optical section, and an actuator that causes the movable section to swing, the method including applying a drive signal to the actuator to cause the movable section to swing. The drive signal is a trapezoidal wave having a trapezoidal waveform. Each leg section of the trapezoidal wave is formed of a first leg section and a second leg section connected to the first leg section. The inclination of the second leg section respect to the flat section of the trapezoidal wave is smaller than the inclination of the first leg section with respect to the flat section of the trapezoidal wave.

PROJECTION APPARATUS, PROJECTOR, AND PROJECTOR CONTROLLING METHOD

A projection system including a first projector and a second projector project images side by side, wherein the first projector includes a first projection section that projects a first image and a first control section that causes the first projection section to project an identification image containing identification information, and the second projector includes a second projection section that projects a second image, an imaging section that captures an image of a range including the projection range of the second projection section to produce a captured image, and a second control section that causes the imaging section to capture an image of the identification image projected by the first projector, acquires the identification information on the first projector based on the captured identification image, and determines the position of the first image relative to the second image based on the position of the identification image in the captured image.
