Aperture sharing for highlight projection

A novel projection system includes a base signal source, a highlight signal source, a base/highlight destination, and a shared optical element. A base signal provided by the base source and a highlight signal provided by the highlight source are combined by the shared optical element. In a particular embodiment, the base signal source and the highlight signal source each include a light source, a spatial light modulator, and optics, and the base/highlight destination includes optics and a spatial light modulator. In a more particular embodiment, the base signal source and the highlight source provide spatially modulated lightfields to the shared optical element. In another particular embodiment, the base signal and the highlight signal are modulated by the spatial light modulator of the base/highlight destination after being combined.

An illumination device for a light modulated projector includes a first and a second colour wheel. A first filter surface of the first colour wheel comprises at least three first surface sections arranged one behind the other, which protrude into an illumination beam path of the illumination device successively on rotation and in each case convey illumination radiation of a different partial range of the visible wavelength range. At least one of the first surface sections of the first filter surface conveys illumination radiation from the infrared range. A second filter surface of the second colour wheel comprises a first surface segment which only conveys illumination radiation from the visible wavelength range and a second surface segment which only conveys illumination radiation from the infrared range. The first and second surface segments protrude into the illumination beam path successively on rotation.

INTERACTIVE REAR PROJECTION SYSTEM
20230185178 · 2023-06-15 · ·

An interactive rear projection system including a projection screen, a projection optical engine, an input device and a controller is provided. The projection optical engine emits a projection beam which is projected on the projection screen. The input device includes a sensor and a first light source both disposed on a first side of the projection screen. The controller is electrically connected to the projection optical engine, the sensor, and the first light source and controls the first light source to project a first beam toward the projection screen. When an object approaches a second side of the projection screen, the sensor senses a light spot generated by the first beam diffusely reflected by the object and recognizes a position of the object or a position where the object touches the projection screen according to the light spot.
