The present invention generally relates to shock absorbing systems. These can be employed in such diverse objects as footwear apparel, mattresses, chair pillows, and seat covers. The present invention revolutionizes the field of shock absorbing systems. It utilizes a mass of flexible objects, such as air-filled balls, within a flexible container. The present invention utilizes a more comfortable mix than the mix of rubber and plastic sold in commercial footwear. The present invention utilizes layering and lubrication to increase flexibility and comfort.

A high tension coil spring structure for a bed mattress includes spring bodies and exposed wiring portions which absorb an external load. Diameter-increasing portions (A) are formed on at least one of upper and/or lower end wiring portions (14, 14′) of body wiring portions (12), and provide spaces in which upper and/or lower exposure start wiring portions (16-5, 16-5′) move upward and downward. Rigid support ends (18) are formed on at least one of the body wiring portions (12) and upper and lower exposed wiring portions (16, 16′), and absorb a compressive load. The diameter-increasing portions and the rigid ends of the coil spring structure fundamentally prevent noise caused by friction between the exposed wiring portions and surrounding wiring portions when the exposed wiring portions are compressed and significantly increase the elasticity of the exposed wiring portions.

A bed includes a mattress set on which a user's body is placed, an adjustable bedframe to adjust a position or orientation of the mattress set for various sitting and sleeping positions, and a dryer to dry the mattress set. The dryer includes a fan, a filter, and a heater to discharge filtered hot air toward the dryer to reduce mildew and mites. A humidity sensing sheet may be provided to sense a humidity level at different regions or areas of the bed, and the dryer may be controlled to supply hot air to regions of the bed having a higher humidity level than a predetermined humidity level or humidity range.

A bed according to an embodiment may include a topper, at least one firmness adjuster provided under the topper, and a bedframe configured to have an adjustable position and to support the firmness adjuster. There may be a plurality of firmness adjusters corresponding to a plurality of areas of the bed, and each firmness adjuster may include a plurality of cushions provided in a cushion case and a drive to adjust the firmness of the plurality of cushions. The drive may change a position of a first spring relative to a second spring in each of the cushions to change a perceived firmness by a user lying on top of the topper and the firmness adjusters. A dryer may be provided under the bedframe to keep the cushions and topper dry.

A mattress includes an alignment layer having a first surface and a second surface arranged opposite to the first surface and defining a plurality of cut-outs extending from the first surface to the second surface and arranged in a plurality of rows in a staggered arrangement. Each cutout of one row partially overlaps with a pair of cutouts arranged in adjacent rows.

A spring module includes a spring and a spring bracket for accommodating the spring. The spring bracket may have a base, an end cover and a flexible connecting part connecting the base and the end cover. The spring may be fixed in the spring bracket with a predetermined initial pressure. The spring module may be used in a spring cushion for furniture.

A bed includes a mattress set, an adjustable bedframe to adjust a position or orientation of the mattress, and a dryer to dry the mattress set. At least one example embodiment is a method of operating a sleeping system, the method including massaging a person residing on a sleeping surface of the sleeping system, the massaging by driving a plurality of adjustable spring assemblies, the plurality of adjustable spring assemblies part of an array of adjustable spring assemblies arranged such that a top of each adjustable spring assembly defines an upper surface parallel to the sleeping surface.

An improved chair seat design is disclosed comprising a foam cushioning unit having top, middle, and bottom layers of foam secured together into a single unit. The bottom layer of foam includes a recess or slot sized to accommodate a void cell cushioning layer. The void cell cushioning layer is inserted into the recess/slot of the foam cushioning unit. Preferably, the void cell cushioning layer comprises an upper layer having an array of smaller cells with peaks pointing downwardly and pockets facing upwardly into the foam cushioning unit, and a lower layer having larger cells with peaks pointing upwardly and pockets facing downwardly relative to the foam cushioning unit. The foam cushioning unit with void cell cushioning layer inserted is then preferably attached to a contoured seat pan to form an improved office chair seat.

A sofa bed includes: a plurality of elastic modules; a body frame having slide rails arranged thereon; and armrest frames disposed at two sides of the body frame along a longitudinal direction of the body frame, respectively. The slide rails on the body frame are configured to enable the plurality of elastic modules to be mounted on the body frame from an outside of the body frame and to slide thereon to predetermined mounting positions, such that the body frame at one side facing the user is provided with the plurality of elastic modules. The angle between the seat and the backrest portion can be locked for improved operation. The elastic modules, which can be easily installed and uninstalled, can improve the comfort of the sofa bed.
