Glueless Pocketed Spring Assembly With Improved Airflow
A pocketed spring assembly comprises first and second sheets of fabric and a plurality of parallel rows of springs held in place with the sheets. Longitudinal seams joining the first and second sheets extend generally the same direction as the rows of springs. Pockets are formed along a strand of springs by aligned separating seams. At least one spring is positioned in each pocket. Each separating seam joins one of the sheets to itself and keeps the spring in its pocket. Ends of aligned separating seams are spaced from each other, thereby improving airflow between pockets. Openings between adjacent longitudinal seams further improve airflow.
Seating cushion
A seating cushion with a pocketed spring assembly includes a plurality of interior strings of springs joined to each other. The interior strings of springs comprises a plurality of interconnected pockets. Each pocket contains at least one coil spring. The pocketed spring assembly forms a central matrix. The pocketed spring assembly further includes at least one perimeter string of springs. Each perimeter string of springs comprises a plurality of interconnected perimeter pockets. Each pocket of the central matrix has a maximum diameter or width of a first dimension and each pocket of the perimeter string of springs has a maximum diameter or width of a second dimension. The first dimension is greater than the second dimension.
FURNITURE CONSTRUCTION WITH ELASTIC OR SPRING MODULES
Furniture is assembled from elastic modules enabling rapid and convenient assembly and disassembly. The elastic module has a spring, an outer covering layer, and an end member attached to an end face of the outer covering layer. A mattress includes a plurality of individual spring assemblies (145), with each spring assembly including at least one spring (134) and a spring cap (144, 150, 161, 164, 171, 184, 194, 204). Each spring cap has at least one first attachment fitting (168, 178, 174, 186, 196) and at least one second attachment fitting (169, 180, 176, 187) with each first attachment fitting engageable into or onto and removable from a second attachment fitting of an adjoining spring cap. The spring assemblies are attached to each other via the first and second attachment fittings, forming the individual spring assemblies into a spring core. A top pad is positioned on top of the spring core. The mattress can be quickly dis-assembled and stored in a compact space by removing the top pad and separating the spring assemblies from each other.
Pocketed spring assembly having dimensionally stabilizing substrate
A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of individually pocketed springs. A dimensionally stabilizing substrate is secured to at least some of the strings on one of the top and bottom surfaces of the strings. A scrim sheet is secured to at least some of the strings on an opposed surface of the strings to maintain the positions of the strings. The dimensionally stabilizing substrate is thicker and more rigid than the scrim sheet.
Pocketed Spring Assembly
A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs, each string joined to at least one adjacent string, each string comprising first and second opposed plies of fabric and a plurality of pockets formed along a length of the string by transverse seams joining the first and second plies. At least one spring is positioned in each pocket. Exterior strings have identical springs in their pockets. Interior strings have two different springs along their length, the outermost springs being firmer than the interior core springs. The pocketed spring assembly has increased firmness or edge support along all four sides due to the different coil springs of the assembly.
Apparatus for making border wire
An apparatus is provided which makes a border wire having a rectangular cross-section. The apparatus is adapted to receive a roll of wire having a circular cross-section, straighten the wire and change the cross-section of the wire to rectangular. The reconfigured wire is then accumulated, passed through another straightener, cut to size and then bent into a rectangular configuration. Opposed ends of the piece of wire having a rectangular cross-section are welded together to complete the border wire. The apparatus has an ejector which removes the completed border wire from the apparatus.
MATTRESS ARRANGEMENT, SUCH AS A BED, HAVING ADJUSTABLE FIRMNESS
A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement (1), having adjustable firmness is disclosed. The mattress arrangement comprises an upper mattress (3) and a lower mattress (4) being arranged beneath said upper mattress (3). At least one side (41) of the lower mattress (4) is moveable in relation to an opposite side (42) of the lower mattress (4), the lower mattress (4) thereby being expandable into an expanded state, having a lower firmness, and compressible into a contracted state, having a higher firmness. A support layer (6) is arranged between the upper mattress (3) and the lower mattress (4), to partly support the upper mattress (3), and arranged overlying the at least one moveable side (41) of the lower mattress (4). Hereby, at least one compartment is formed beneath the upper mattress (3), wherein the compartment(s) is at least partly empty when the lower mattress (4) is in the contracted state and at least partly filled when the lower mattress (4) is in the expanded state.
Sectioned pocketed spring assembly
A pocketed spring assembly comprises parallel strings, each string joined to at least one adjacent string. At least some of the strings have springs of different gauge wire and some of the pockets of the strings having springs of different gauge wire are spliced together. At least some of the strings have springs of different geometries and some of the pockets of the strings having springs of different geometries are spliced together. At least some strings may have end sections with springs different than a middle section therebetween, the springs of the end sections being firmer than the springs of the middle section.
