Eye tracking wearable devices and methods for use

Devices and methods are provided for eye-tracking, e.g., including a freeform optical assembly and/or a modular design. In an exemplary embodiment, a device and method are provided that includes a wearable device on a user's head, the wearable device including a scene camera oriented to capture images of the user's surroundings. The user may perform a predetermined action with the user's eye to activate a photo feature of the wearable device, gaze at a region within the user's surroundings, the wearable device determining a focal point and limited field-of-view for the camera imaging field based on the center point, and activate the camera to capture an image of the limited field-of-view centered around the focal point.

BRIGHTNESS CONTROL FOR AN AUGMENTED REALITY EYE-MOUNTED DISPLAY

A system controls a brightness of an augmented reality (AR) eye-mounted device. The system includes an eye-mounted display, a photodetector system, and a controller. The eye-mounted display includes a contact lens and a femtoprojector. The femtoprojector is contained in the contact lens and is configured to project an AR image to a user's retina. The AR image is overlaid on an external scene viewed by the user through the contact lens. The photodetector system detects a brightness level of the external scene. Based on the brightness level of the external scene, the controller adjusts a brightness level of the AR image projected to the user's retina. In some embodiments, the eye-mounted display receives image data defining the AR image and the controller adjusts a bit depth of the image data based on the brightness level of the AR image.

Image collection with increased accuracy

Image collection is provided, e.g., a system includes a gaze point detection device for detecting a location of a gaze point of a user with respect to the user, and an image collection device for focusing and collecting a first image according to the location of the gaze point with respect to the user. The gaze point detection device comprises a fundus image collection module for collecting a second image of a fundus of a user, an adjustable lens module for adjusting an imaging parameter of an optical path between the fundus image collection module and an eye and an image processing module for calculating the location of a gaze point of the user with respect to the user according to the imaging parameter. The system and method of the present application can increase the focusing accuracy and the focusing speed of an image collection apparatus.

POWER EFFICIENT IMAGE SENSING APPARATUS, METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME AND EYE/GAZE TRACKING SYSTEM

An image sensing apparatus has a light sensitive area and a control unit. The light sensitive area registers image data in response to an incoming amount of light, and is operable in an active mode wherein image data can be read out there from as well as in a standby mode wherein image data cannot be read out. The control unit produces a control signal setting the light sensitive area to operate in the active mode and the standby mode respectively in a cyclic manner during an operation period, which preferably encompasses multiple data frame read-outs of image data from the light sensitive area.

An electronic device that has a line-of-sight detection function and is capable of suppressing the execution of an operation different from the intention of a user, and a control method therefor are disclosed. The device has a function for detecting coordinates on an image at which a user is gazing as point-of-gaze coordinates. The device, in a case where a movement of the point-of-gaze coordinates has been detected, measures a duration of the point-of-gaze coordinates after the movement. The device further determines that the movement of the point-of-gaze coordinates with the duration larger than a time threshold is a viewpoint movement that is intended by the user, and determines that the movement of the point-of-gaze coordinates with the duration equal to or smaller than the time threshold is a viewpoint movement that is not intended by the user.
