A heat exchanger for a temperature controlled case is disclosed herein. A temperature controlled case includes a housing that defines a temperature controlled space. The housing includes a duct that receives circulated air. A heat exchanger is coupled to the housing and disposed within the duct. The heat exchanger includes an intake face at a non-perpendicular angle relative to an air flow direction in the duct immediately upstream of the heat exchanger.

The cooling system is adapted for cooling the food bar such that at least two different climate zones are provided, the cooling of which is separately controllable. The cooling system has one evaporator, a cooling arrangement arranged close to, and above, pan back walls and adjacent a rear section of a covering arrangement adapted to cover pans and so that cooled air flows from a lower edge outward above the pans, and upward in toward an upper edge due to self-convection, forming a first climate zone. Pan holder elements are disposed in the cabinet so disposed that between the pan holder elements and the bottom and lateral walls of the pans, a second climate zone is formed.

A refrigerated display case 1 of the open front type has a roller mounted night cover 51 formed of flexible material which, in a deployed position, is arranged to close the front opening of the display case. The flexible material of the night cover has a plurality of apertures 54 arranged in a first section 51 that are disposed in an upper 30%-40% of the front opening. The apertures have a constant diameter D, chosen to be a fixed dimension in the range 9 mm-11 mm, that are arranged in a vertical and a horizontal grid. The spacing between the aperture centres in the vertical direction y of the grid is 3D and the spacing between aperture centres in the horizontal direction x of the grid is in the range 2D to 4D, preferably 3D. The specific dimensions of the first section and of the apertures and their grid arrangement is arranged to eliminate hotspots and improve the efficiency of the refrigeration system.

A display unit 1 for storing and displaying heated goods comprises walls 2, 4, 6, 8, shelves 10, 12, 14, 16, an air duct 18, a fan 20, 22, and an air heater 24. The walls delimit a main chamber 26 including a first open front side 28 and a second open front side 30 opposite of the first open front side. The shelves each comprise an upper placing side 32, and define an individual storage spaces 34, 36, 38, 40. The air duct 18 extends from an inlet 42, 44 to multiple outlets 46 which are in communication with the storage spaces. The display unit further comprises a transparent wall 48, 50, which is positioned in the main chamber 26 between the first open front side and the second open front side, and divides the main chamber in a first chamber 52 and a second chamber 54.

The heat insulating bottom plate includes a first air inlet formed in a face facing the storage room, a second air inlet formed at a position that is in a face facing the machine room and does not overlap with the first air inlet in the up-and-down direction, and an inlet flow channel formed so as to cause the first and the second air inlets to communicate with each other.

A cabinet to hold and display a plurality of food items is provided. The cabinet includes a plurality of shelves that each include holding volumes that are accessible via an open front of the cabinet. The cabinet establishes a separate and dedicated air curtain across the opening into each holding volume and the temperature of the air forming each holding volume is separately controlled. Each shelf includes a digital display that can be controlled to display various parameters of the contents of the specific shelves or other material.
