Priming a print substrate
Described herein is a method for priming a print substrate for subsequently receiving a liquid electrophotographic (LEP) inkin which a surface of a print substrate is coated with a first primer using an analogue printing technique and a second primer is digitally printed to the surface of the print substrate coated with the first primer.
White Laminated Film and Recording Material
In order to provide an extremely cost-advantageous laminated white film for use as a recording material that is an information printing medium in place of paper such as copy paper, proposed is a laminated white film having a functional layer comprising an antistatic agent on at least one surface of a polyester film having an apparent density of 0.7 to 1.3 g/cm.sup.3 and a thickness of 10 to 1000 m, wherein the polyester film comprises a polyester-incompatible polymer.
Printing methods
A method for determining coat weight of a printed transparent electrophotographic composition is described, in which a calibration composition is added to a transparent liquid electrophotographic composition to produce a test composition, the calibration composition comprising a carrier liquid, a polymer resin, and at least 5 wt. % of an optical brightening agent based on the total solids content of the calibration composition. The test composition is electrophotographically printed onto a test substrate to produce the printed transparent electrophotographic ink composition; the fluorescence of the printed transparent electrophotographic composition is measured; and the coat weight of the printed transparent electrophotographic composition is determine based on the fluorescence of the printed transparent electrophotographic composition.
Liquid electrophotographic varnish composition
A liquid electrophotographic varnish composition comprising: a polymer resin; an epoxy-based cross-linking agent; a solid catalyst comprising at least one amine group; and a carrier liquid.
Primer composition and method
A method for determining coat weight of a transparent primer coating for liquid electrophotographic printing processes is described, in which an optical brightening agent is added to an aqueous transparent primer composition in an amount of less than 0.1 wt. % based on the total solids content of the primer composition to produce a test composition, the test composition is applied onto a test substrate to produce a transparent primer coating, the fluorescence of the transparent primer coating is measured, and the coat weight of the transparent primer coating based on the fluorescence of the transparent primer coating is determined.
Recording medium and method for making the same
A recording medium and a method for making the recording medium are disclosed. The recording medium includes a core substrate. The core substrate includes a base having two opposed surfaces. The base includes from about 40% to about 70% organic material and from about 30% to about 60% inorganic material. The core substrate also includes a mineral coating layer disposed on one or both of the two opposed surfaces of the base. The mineral coating layer has a water-soluble or water-dispersible binder and mineral materials. An adhesion layer is disposed on the mineral coating layer. A surface treatment layer is disposed on the adhesion layer, and the surface treatment layer includes organic fibrous material.
Electrophotographic recording media
An electrophotographic recording media containing a base substrate coated on at least one side with an image-receiving layer that contains a polymeric polyolefin resin and more than about 20 wt % of inorganic pigments dispersed into said resin. Also disclosed is a method of 5 making such recording media and process for producing an image on said electrophotographic recording media.
Printable recording media
A printable recording media including a supporting base substrate having, on its image side, a pre-coating layer that contains inorganic pigments and polymeric binders, and a top ink-receiving layer that includes inorganic pigments, polymeric binders and non-film forming polymers; and, having a polymer barrier layer on its backside. Also described herein is a method for making the printable recording media, a method for forming printed articles, and the obtained printed articles.
PROCESS FOR APPLYING A POWDER COATING
A process for coating a substrate comprising the sequential steps of (a) providing a transfer sheet provided with a printed powder coating, (b) applying the transfer sheet onto the substrate with the powder coating in contact with the substrate, (c) removing the transfer sheet from the powder coating and (d) curing the powder coating on the substrate.
