An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a developing unit configured to develop a latent image formed on the image bearer with a toner to form a toner image, and a transfer member including a contact area that comes in contact with the image bearer. The toner image is primary transferred from the image bearer to the transfer member. A speed difference between the image bearer and the transfer member at the contact area is 0.1% or greater but 0.8% or less. The toner has an average circularity of 0.971 or greater but 0.986 or less and a shape factor SF-2 of 110 or greater but 119 or less. The speed difference is represented by the following formula:

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member, an acquiring portion, an applying portion, and a controller. When a transfer voltage is subjected to constant-voltage control so that the transfer voltage applied to the transfer member by the applying portion is substantially constant, in a case that the transfer voltage when a toner amount used for a toner image is a first toner amount is a first voltage, the controller controls the applying portion so that the transfer voltage is a second voltage smaller in absolute value than the first voltage in a case that the toner amount is a second toner amount larger than the first toner amount. The acquiring portion acquires toner amount information on the toner amount for each toner image transferred onto a single recording material.

The electroconductive layer has a first phase containing a first resin and a second phase containing a second resin. The electroconductive layer further includes electroconductive particles. The electroconductive particles are unevenly present in the second phase. The first resin is a crystalline resin. The second resin is a noncrystalline resin with a thermal decomposition temperature of 400° C. or more.

In an image forming apparatus, a tray having first and second receiving portions is configured to move between a first position, at which at least part of the tray is positioned inside an apparatus body, and a second position, at which the tray is outside the apparatus body. The tray in the first position allows a first recording medium to be conveyed from the first receiving portion. When the tray is in the first position, the second receiving portion is configured to move between a third position, which is at an upstream side relative to a first opening of the apparatus body in a second direction, and a fourth position, which is at a downstream side relative to the third position in the second direction. The second receiving portion at the third position allows a second recording medium to be conveyed from the second receiving portion in the second direction.

There is described an intermediate transfer member for digital offset printing, comprising: a cured silicone release layer formed by curing a curable silicone release formulation comprising: a polyalkylsiloxane containing at least two vinyl groups having a weight average molecular weight of 60,000 g/mol or less; a polyalkylsiloxane containing two vinyl groups having a weight average molecular weight of at least 65,000 g/mol; a polyalkylsiloxane cross-linker containing at least two Si—H bonds; and a catalyst or a photoinitiator. There is also described a method of producing an intermediate transfer member, and a curable silicone release formulation for an intermediate transfer member.

Imaging system

An imaging system includes: a steering roller located between a first belt roller and a second belt roller, that is inclinable around a fulcrum; and a sensor to detect an amount of displacement of the steering roller due to an inclination of the steering roller. A controller may output a command signal when the amount of displacement of the steering roller exceeds a reference value.

An image forming apparatus includes: an annular transfer belt having an outer surface on which an image is transferred; a nip portion that forms a nip region for nipping a recording medium with an outer surface of the transfer belt; a facing portion that faces the nip region from an inner side of the transfer belt and transfers the image from the transfer belt to the recording medium in the nip region by charging the transfer belt; and a transport unit including a holding portion that holds the recording medium, transports the recording medium by moving the holding portion, and causes the recording medium together with the holding portion to pass the nip region while holding the recording medium at the holding portion.
