An example image forming apparatus includes a simplex path for conveying printing medium passing through a fixing unit provided in a main body to a discharge port of the main body, a duplex path for turning over printing medium and conveying the printing medium to the simplex path, and a discharge unit for selectively conveying a first printing medium and a second printing medium in different directions, wherein the first printing medium includes an image formed on one surface passing through the simplex path, and the second printing medium includes an image formed on two surfaces and passing through the simplex path after passing through the duplex path.

An image forming apparatus includes an accommodating portion, an image forming unit, a skew correcting portion, a conveyance unit, a detection unit, a re-conveyance unit, and a control unit. The control unit controls the re-conveyance unit such that the re-conveyance unit stops a sheet in the second conveyance path temporarily and starts to convey the sheet at a first timing after a second timing and before a third timing, where the second timing is a timing such that if the sheet is started to convey to the first conveyance path at the second timing, the conveyance unit decelerates the conveyance speed when the sheet reaches to the detection unit, and the third timing is a timing such that if the sheet is started to convey to the first conveyance path at the third timing, the conveyance unit decelerates the conveyance speed when the sheet reaches to the skew correcting portion.

An image forming apparatus includes an accommodating portion, an image forming unit, a skew correcting portion, a conveyance unit, a detection unit, a re-conveyance unit, and a control unit. The control unit controls the re-conveyance unit such that the re-conveyance unit stops a sheet in the second conveyance path temporarily and starts to convey the sheet at a first timing after a second timing and before a third timing, where the second timing is a timing such that if the sheet is started to convey to the first conveyance path at the second timing, the conveyance unit decelerates the conveyance speed when the sheet reaches to the detection unit, and the third timing is a timing such that if the sheet is started to convey to the first conveyance path at the third timing, the conveyance unit decelerates the conveyance speed when the sheet reaches to the skew correcting portion.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit; a conveying unit; a fixing unit including a heater and a temperature detector; and a controller. The controller is configured to execute: first conveying processing of controlling the conveying unit to start conveying the sheet after a first time period has elapsed since the temperature detected by the temperature detector reaches a first temperature, second conveying processing of controlling the conveying unit to start conveying the sheet in response to the temperature reaches the first temperature, third conveying processing of controlling the conveying unit to start conveying the sheet in response to the temperature reaches a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature, and determination processing of determining, according to a plurality of printing conditions, which of the first conveying processing, the second conveying processing, and the third conveying processing is to be executed.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, an oblique movement correcting portion including a first registration roller pair and a first moving portion, a reversing portion, and a re-feeding portion. The reversing portion includes a reversing roller pair and a second moving portion. The re-feeding portion includes a second registration roller pair. When an image is formed on a second surface of a sheet opposite from a first surface of the sheet, a side end position of the sheet is corrected by the second moving portion and oblique movement of the sheet is corrected, and then the side end position of the sheet is corrected again by the first moving means and the sheet is fed to the image forming portion.

A medium passage switching mechanism disposed on a casing of an image forming device, includes a medium tray, a guiding component and a resilient component. An entrance passage, a first exit passage and a second exit passage are formed inside the casing. The medium tray is pivoted to the casing and can pivot between a first position and a second position. The guiding component is pivoted to the casing and can pivot between a third position and a fourth position. The resilient component abuts against the guiding component and the casing. When the medium tray pivots between the first position and the second position, the guiding component can be driven by cooperation of the resilient component and the medium tray to pivot between the third position and the fourth position for guiding a medium to enter into the first exit passage or the second exit passage from the entrance passage.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a transfer portion, a power source, a reading portion, and a controller. The controller executes an output operation so that first test images do not overlap with second test images, respectively, on a first side and a second side of a recording material. On the basis of information on a second test voltage for transfer of the second test image, of the plurality of second test images, of which information on a density read by the reading portion coincides with a preset condition, the controller sets a transfer voltage for image transfer onto the second side in double side image formation so that an absolute value of the transfer voltage set for the image transfer onto the second side in double side image formation is greater than an absolute value of the second test voltage that coincides with the preset condition.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on image forming condition, a reader configured to convey the sheet and read a test image on the sheet while the sheet is conveyed, and a controller configured to control the image forming unit to form the image and the test image on a same sheet, control the reader to read the test image on the same sheet, and generate the image forming condition for adjusting a density of an image to be formed by the image forming unit, based on a reading result of the test image by the reader.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a fixing unit including a first rotary member and a second rotary member, a reciprocation mechanism configured to reciprocally move the fixing unit in a width direction, a duplex conveyance unit configured to reverse a recording material of which a toner image is fixed on a first surface and reconvey the recording material to the image forming unit in a double-sided image formation in which toner images are formed and fixed on the first surface and second surfaces of the recording material, and a control unit configured to control the reciprocation mechanism not to move the fixing unit in the width direction while the fixing unit is nipping and conveying the recording material at a fixing nip portion for fixing the toner image on the first surface of the recording material in the double-sided image formation.

An image forming device includes a transfer unit that transfers a toner image onto a recording medium that has first and second surfaces and is conveyed in a conveyance direction; a main heating unit arranged downstream of the transfer unit in the conveyance direction, and which contacts and heats the recording medium and fixes the toner image onto the recording medium; a reversing unit that reverses front and back of the recording medium having a first toner image fixed onto the first surface; and a preheating unit arranged between the transfer and main heating units in the conveyance direction and that heats the recording medium having a second toner image transferred onto the second surface. The preheating unit heats the recording medium so that a temperature of the first surface is lower than a softening point of a toner before the recording medium is heated by the main heating unit.
