An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus configured to form a toner image on a recording material, a varnish application apparatus configured to apply a varnish to the recording material, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to apply a first application amount of varnish to the recording material per unit area in a case of executing the image forming job for forming a varnish layer on a recording material having a first grammage, and is configured to apply a second application amount of varnish to the recording material per unit area in a case of executing the image forming job for forming the varnish layer on a recording material having a second grammage smaller than the first grammage, the second application amount being larger than the first application amount.

A management system includes a plurality of image forming apparatuses and a management apparatus connectable to a device of each image forming apparatus via a network. The management system includes a detection unit that detects a condition of the image forming apparatus, a storage unit that stores condition information acquired by the detection unit detecting the condition, a transmission unit that transmits the condition information stored in the storage unit to the management apparatus, and a display unit that displays information. The display unit displays, on a same screen, data calculated from pieces of condition information of the plurality of image forming apparatuses transmitted to the management apparatus, and the condition information stored in the storage unit.

An image forming apparatus installed with at least one first application includes a setting receiving unit, a storage unit, an installation unit, and an addition unit. The setting receiving unit displays at least one first setting screen for setting the first application and receives an input of setting value corresponding to the first application. The storage unit stores first information used, by the setting receiving unit, to display the first setting screen for setting the first application. The installation unit installs a second application on the image forming apparatus. The addition unit adds, to the storage unit, second information used for displaying at least one second setting screen for setting the second application. An image forming apparatus includes a unit group including a specific unit having a specific component that performs an operation necessary for notification of paper remaining on a mounting surface; and a processor configured to control supply of power to the unit group at a return from a sleep state based on a return event, in which the processor is configured to in a case where there is no paper on the mounting surface at a transition to the sleep state, perform first control to supply power to a specified power supply destination corresponding to the return event at the return from the sleep state, and in a case where there is a paper on the mounting surface at the transition to the sleep state, perform second control to supply power to the specific unit at the return from the sleep state even in a case where the specific unit is not included in the specified power supply destination of the unit group.

In an image forming apparatus, a control device functions as a controller and a user presence/absence determiner. When accepting an instruction to execute a print job through a touch panel, the controller controls operations of a sheet feed device, a conveyance device, and an image forming device to allow a document image represented by image data generated by a document reading device to be formed on a sheet to make a printed matter and allow the printed matter to be discharged to a sheet output tray. An image forming apparatus configured to perform image formation using a component unit configured to be attachable to and detachable from a main body of the image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes: an access unit configured to access a storage device included in the component unit attached to the main body; and a control unit configured to control the access unit to read and update information stored in the storage device. The storage device includes a first area and a second area configured to store use information indicating a use state of the component unit, and updating of the use information stored in the first area by the control unit is configured such that updating only within a predetermined limit is permitted, and no limit is provided on updating of the use information stored in the second area.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer, a first reader, a second reader, and a processor. The printer is configured to print an image having diagnostic information on a sheet of paper. The first reader is configured to read a first image from the sheet of paper. The second reader is configured to read a second image from the sheet of paper. The processor is configured to cause a display to display a diagnosis result of a defect based on the first image and the second image.

An image forming apparatus includes a sheet stacking portion, an image forming portion, a detection portion configured to detect a position, in a sheet width direction, a storage configured to store position information of a sheet, and a controller. The controller is configured to cause the storage to store the position information based on a position of a sheet detected by the detection portion during execution of the job, and if sheet information of a sheet used in a previous job is matches sheet information of a sheet used in a current job, cause the image forming portion to start formation of an image to be formed on a first sheet, before a position of the first sheet is detected by the detection portion, based on the position information stored in the storage in the previous job.
