The unit body has a positioning member projecting from its top face to serve to position another feed unit loaded on the feed unit. The storage cassette has a side cover forming a part of the exterior face of the feed unit. The side cover has a fitting part extending toward the top face of the unit body, and in the fitting part, an engagement recess is formed with which the positioning member engages so as to position the storage cassette relative to the unit body.

Sheet processing apparatus

A sheet processing apparatus has a main body with an insertion slot for a sheet cassette. The sheet cassette has a moveable pin member. A housing in the main body includes a lever partially rotatable about a first axis. The lever has a pin engagement portion at an end of the lever that rotates about a second axis and has an engagement groove into which the pin member can be inserted from a first pin engagement position and a second pin engagement position when the lever has rotated about the first axis. An elastic member applies a force to the lever to rotate the lever toward the insertion direction of the cassette. The housing includes a chassis having a guide groove extending along the insertion direction. The guide groove includes an inclining portion that is inclined with respect to the insertion direction.

A paper feed device includes: a sensor unit that includes a coil substrate and a conductive plate which is opposite the coil substrate, that outputs an output value corresponding to a position of the conductive plate; a first cursor link mechanism which moves the first conductive plate according to the position of the first cursor in the longitudinal direction of the first coil substrate; a storage unit which stores first sheet size data; and a control unit which recognizes the magnitude of the first output value of the sensor unit and which recognizes, based on the recognized magnitude of the first output value and the first sheet size data, the size of the set sheets.

REUSABLE MEDIA PACKAGING FOR IMAGING DEVICE

A reusable media shell has a frame to hold sheets of media in an interior. A removable cap connects to the frame and its manipulation unveils the media for picking by an imaging device. The cap resides on a terminal end of the frame so the frame covers a majority of the media. A lift plate in the interior forces upward the sheets for picking. Two magnets on the frame magnetically secure the frame to magnets in a base of the imaging device and position the sheets in the base. Upstanding walls, a lid and bottom define the interior of the frame. Inserts attached to the walls allow adjustment to accommodate various sizes of the media.

Image forming apparatus using pressing plate and computer-readable medium storing instructions to control movement of pressing plate

An electrophotographic image forming apparatus has a controller configured to store a rotation amount of a motor since the tray is attached to a main body of the image forming apparatus as a stored rotation amount, and move, in response to receipt of a print instruction, a pressing plate by driving the motor in the first mode when a remaining rotation amount is equal to or larger than a particular threshold rotation amount, the remaining rotation amount being a difference between a target rotation amount which is a rotation amount necessary to move the pressing plate from a position when the tray is attached to the main body to the conveying position, and the stored rotation amount, or in the second mode when the remaining rotation amount is less than the particular threshold rotation amount.

SHEET MATERIAL FEEDING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPRATUS

A sheet material feeding apparatus includes: a cassette configured to internally contain a sheet material; a push-up plate that is mounted on an inner bottom surface of the cassette and that is a plate on top surface of which the sheet material is mounted; a push-up plate displacement mechanism configured to include push-up plate biasing members and to change a posture of the push-up plate using a biasing force of one of the push-up plate biasing members; a width regulating member configured to be displaced in a width direction intersecting with a feeding direction and to regulate a position of the sheet material; and a biasing member selecting mechanism that includes a switching unit configured to switch application and release-application of the biasing force of one of the push-up plate biasing members to a posture change of the push-up plate, in interlocking with displacement of the width regulating member.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPLEMENTING SELECTABLE INPUT MEDIA ROUTING OF MULTIPLE INPUT MEDIA FORMS FROM MULTIPLE AXES IN IMAGE FORMING DEVICES

Systems and methods are provided for configuring media transport flow paths for directing input image receiving media, including of different types, in sheet or roll form from multiple axes to provide wider latitude in selecting particular input image receiving media and combinations of input image receiving media to support execution of a print job. The disclosed schemes are directed at using one or more stationary turn bars disposed generally at 45° in an input media transport path approaching a marking module in an image forming system to allow for sheets or sheeted materials to be positioned at 90° to the in-line input image receiving media transport path directed toward the marking module thus allowing for flexibility in selection among various sources of stacked, pallet and rolled media.
