A fixing apparatus includes first and second rotating members, a heater having a heating element and a substrate, and first and second contact members. A direction of a longer side on a surface of the substrate where the heating element is disposed is a longitudinal direction. A direction intersecting the longitudinal direction is a widthwise direction. The first contact member is disposed in a region outside a region where a maximum size recording material conveyed to a nip portion passes through the nip portion on one end side in the longitudinal direction on an outer circumferential surface of the first rotating member, and the second contact member is disposed in the region outside the region where the maximum size recording material conveyed to the nip portion passes through the nip portion on an other end side in the longitudinal direction on an outer circumferential surface of the second rotating member.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body, a rotatable first rotary member, a rotatable second rotary member, a casing, a sheet discharge port, an opening and closing member, a duct, and a fan. The casing is provided within the apparatus body and storing the first and second rotary members. The sheet discharge port discharges the recording material that has passed through the nip portion out of the casing. The opening and closing member has the sheet discharge port and opens a conveyance path of the recording material from the nip portion to the sheet discharge port. The fan suctions air from the suction port through the duct. The duct is provided on the opening and closing member and comprises a suction port to suction air from the conveyance path. The suction port is provided on the same side as the first rotary member with respect to the conveyance path.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body, a detachable component attachable to and detachable from the apparatus body, a secured part that is provided in the detachable component and that is secured to a predetermined securing position on an apparatus body side, and a regulating part that is provided on the apparatus body side and that regulates a movement of the secured part secured to the securing position. During attachment of the detachable component to the apparatus body, the secured part is brought into contact with the regulating part so as to be displaced or set in a state changed from a state before the contact of the secured part with the regulating part, and the secured part that is displaced or set in the changed state becomes able to pass the regulating part so as to reach the securing position.

A fixing device having: a fixing member extending in a first predetermined direction; a heating roller extending in the first predetermined direction; a fixing belt stretched between the fixing member and the heating roller and being annular when viewed in a plan view in the first predetermined direction; a heating section heating the heating roller and being provided in the heating roller; a first support section supporting the heating roller in such a manner that the heating roller is movable with respect to the fixing member along a predetermined plane perpendicular to the first predetermined direction; a pressure section exerting a force upon the heating roller in such a direction that the heating roller moves away from the fixing member; and a second support section supporting the heating section in such a manner that the heating section is movable together with the heating roller.

An image forming apparatus with a detachable fixing device that is capable of printing with high quality without printing wastefully. A storage unit stores identification information about a fixing device in association with an attribute of a sheet that is printable with the fixing device concerned. A control unit executes printing when the storage unit does not store an attribute of a sheet corresponding to a fixing device that is currently attached to the image forming apparatus. The control unit determines whether to execute printing according to an attribute of a sheet used in printing and an attribute of a sheet stored in the storage unit when the storage unit stores the attribute of the sheet corresponding to the fixing device that is currently attached to the image forming apparatus.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body, a detachable component attachable to and detachable from the apparatus body, a secured part that is provided in the detachable component and that is secured to a predetermined securing position on an apparatus body side, and a regulating part that is provided on the apparatus body side and that regulates a movement of the secured part secured to the securing position. During attachment of the detachable component to the apparatus body, the secured part is brought into contact with the regulating part so as to be displaced or set in a state changed from a state before the contact of the secured part with the regulating part, and the secured part that is displaced or set in the changed state becomes able to pass the regulating part so as to reach the securing position.

A hub-based drive coupling mechanism for a fusing assembly, including a gear operatively coupled to a motor; a hub member; and a backup roll having a shaft rotatably coupled to the gear via the hub member, the gear including an outer cylindrical portion having a plurality of tabs disposed along an inner surface thereof, the hub member including an annular portion having a plurality of protrusions radially extending therefrom, and the backup roll shaft having a pin member. When the drive gear is rotated, the plurality of tabs of the drive gear directly contact the plurality of protrusions of the hub member to cause the hub member to rotate and the plurality of protrusions of the hub member directly contact the plurality of segments of the pin member to cause the shaft to rotate.

An imaging device, including a locking assembly connected to the frame of the imaging device and selectively engaged with the fuser assembly thereof when the fuser assembly is mounted to the frame. The locking assembly includes a lock member slidingly coupled to the frame between a first position in which the lock member engages with the fuser assembly for locking the fuser assembly to the frame and a second position in which the lock member is disengaged from the fuser assembly to allow the fuser assembly to be disconnected and removed from the frame. A lever mechanism is movably coupled to the frame and coupled to the lock member, wherein actuation of the lever mechanism moves the lock member between the first position and the second position.

An image forming apparatus includes a main housing and a fixing device. The fixing device is installable into the main housing in a first direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the fixing device. The fixing device includes a handle on one side in the first direction, and is configured to rotate relative to the main housing, as an end of the handle on the one side in the first direction is moved toward one side in a second direction that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and to the first direction. The handle has a first inclined surface at an end thereof on another side in the second direction. The inclined surface is inclined such that an edge thereof on the one side in the first direction is located further to the another side in the second direction than an edge thereof on another side in the first direction.

An image forming system includes a first image forming apparatus and a second image forming apparatus. The first image forming apparatus includes a first housing having a first guide and a first housing contact portion, and a first fixing unit having a first unit contact portion. The second image forming apparatus includes a second housing having a second guide and a second housing contact portion, and a second fixing unit having a second fixing unit. The first unit contact portion contacts the second housing contact portion during the process the first fixing unit is guided by the second guide and interferes with installation of the first fixing unit into the second housing. The second unit contact portion contacts the first housing contact portion during the process the second fixing unit is guided by the first guide and interferes with installation of the second fixing unit into the first housing.
