An image reading apparatus includes: a paper path; an image reader which reads a side of the sheet conveyed along the paper path in a reading position; a sheet support member located opposite to the image reader to support a rear surface opposite to a surface to be read of the sheet; a spectrophotometer which colorimetrically measures color of an image formed on the sheet; and an image reading housing which accommodates the image reader and the spectrophotometer. The image reader includes: a reading housing; and a drawer guide provided in the reading housing such that it can be drawn from the image reading housing, and maintains the distance between a light transmitting member housed in the reading housing and the sheet support member to be greater than a reading distance lower limit. The drawer guide transfers heat to the outside of the reading housing.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FRAME UNIT, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING IMAGE CARRYING UNIT, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CARTRIDGE, AND CARTRIDGE

A method of manufacturing a frame unit from a first unit. The first unit includes a first image carrying member, a supporting member supporting the first image carrying member, and a frame to which the supporting member is adhered. The first image carrying member includes a first edge portion member, and the first edge portion member includes a first restricted portion. The supporting member includes a bearing engaging with the first edge portion member so that the first image carrying member is rotatable about a rotational axis. The frame includes a first restricting portion restricting movement of the first image carrying member. The method includes separating in which the first image carrying member is separated from the supporting member while in a state in which the supporting member is adhered to the frame.

METHOD FOR ADAPTING A PRINTER FOR OPERATING WITH MORE COLOURS

A method for adapting a printer for operating with more colours, the printer including an inner framework and a dispenser assembly associable with said framework, includes the steps of application of at least one first quick release connector for electric cables at the dispenser assembly; and application of at least one corresponding second quick release connector at the inner framework of the printer.

Fuser installation in an imaging device

An imaging device has a drive gear assembly which operatively engages with a backup roll gear of a fuser assembly when the fuser assembly is inserted into the imaging device. Such engagement causes the drive gear assembly to rotate, and in turn rotates a drive motor coupled to the drive gear assembly. The drive motor includes Hall Effect sensors associated with a sensor arrangement that senses rotation of the motor. During rotation of the drive motor, sensor signals are transmitted to a controller of the imaging device, the controller counting rising and falling signal edges of the received sensor signals. Based on the number of rising and falling signal edges, a message is sent to a user of the imaging device whether or not the installation of the fuser assembly was successful.

An electronic device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a third electrode, a first resistor, a second resistor, and an attachment/detachment detecting portion. The first electrode and the second electrode are separated from each other upon an attachment of a detachable member. The third electrode comes into contact with the first electrode upon the attachment of the detachable member. The first resistor is arranged on a conduction path that extends from a power supply to the first electrode. The second resistor is arranged on either a first conduction path or a second conduction path, the first conduction path extending from the second electrode to a ground, the second conduction path extending from the third electrode to the ground. The attachment/detachment detecting portion detects attachment state of the detachable member based on a voltage applied to the first electrode.

Bearing device and transferring device

A bearing device includes a first bearing for a first roller; a second bearing for a second roller; a bearing holder for the first and second bearings, wherein when the first bearing is mounted in the holder, a peripheral surface of the first roller is projected out of the holder through an opening of the holder, and the second roller is provided in the second bearing contacting the first roller in the holder; a contact portion for determining a relative position between the first and second bearings by contacting the first bearing with the first bearing mounted in the holder; and a moving mechanism for moving the second bearing toward the opening with dismounting of the first bearing, and for holding the second bearing in a position in which at least a part of a peripheral surface of the second roller projects out of the holder through the opening.

Image recording apparatus including cover unit mounted in openable and closable manner above image recording unit

An image reading and recording apparatus includes an image recording unit and an image reading unit supported to be pivotally movable above the image recording unit and configured to be opened and closed by being pivotally moved relative to the image recording unit. The apparatus includes a stay including an opening portion formed thereon, a rotor inserted in the opening portion of the stay, a first cam surface provided on an inner peripheral portion of the opening portion, and a second cam surface provided on an outer peripheral portion of the rotor. The rotor rotates due to abutment of the first cam surface and the second cam surface with each other. The image reading unit is held in a first opened state with a first open angle, due to meshed engagement of the first cam surface and the second cam surface with each other.

Duplex printing image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes an openable/closable cover body in a main body. The cover body has a first cover member, a second cover member, an engagement member, an elastic body, and a support member. The support member rotatably supports the engagement member. The support member collides with the engagement member which is energized by the elastic body and is rotated when the cover body becomes in a closed state, to stop rotation of the engagement member. The support member is fitted on the first cover member separately from the second cover member.
