FRAME RATE SYNCHRONIZATION
20210400169 · 2021-12-23 ·

A display system arranged to receive a video stream of frames for display. The frame rate of the video stream is defined by a first clock signal comprising a plurality of first clock reset signals (between frames). A subframe rate of the display system is defined by a second clock signal comprising a plurality of second clock reset signals (between subframes). The second clock reset signals define n subframes for each frame of the video stream. That is, the subframe rate of the display system is n times faster than the frame rate of the video stream. The display system is arranged so that duration of every nth second clock reset signal is different to the duration of the other second clock reset signals such that synchronization between frames of the video stream and subframes of the display device is maintained.

IMAGE OUTPUT DEVICE

An image output device of the disclosure facilitates enlargement of a stereoscopic image and includes a spatial light modulator, an image irradiation unit, and an address light irradiation unit. The spatial light modulator includes a main surface, a back surface, and pixels, reflects light emitted to the main surface, and modulates a phase of the light for each pixel. The image irradiation unit irradiates the main surface with light including an optical image. The address light irradiation unit irradiates the back surface with address light including a diffraction grating pattern. Each pixel of the spatial light modulator changes a phase modulation amount according to the intensity of the address light from a back surface. The address light irradiation unit dynamically change a diffraction grating pattern's direction on the back surface. The image irradiation unit irradiates the main surface with the optical image corresponding to the diffraction grating pattern's direction.

Disclosed are systems and methods for manufacturing energy relays for energy directing systems and Transverse Anderson Localization. Systems and methods include providing first and second component engineered structures with first and second sets of engineered properties and forming a medium using the first component engineered structure and the second component engineered structure. The forming step includes randomizing a first engineered property in a first orientation of the medium resulting in a first variability of that engineered property in that plane, and the values of the second engineered property allowing for a variation of the first engineered property in a second orientation of the medium, where the variation of the first engineered property in the second orientation is less than the variation of the first engineered property in the first orientation.

LIGHT FIELD DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR CINEMAS

A light filed (LF) display system for displaying holographic content (e.g., a holographic film or holographic content to augment a film) to viewers in a cinema. The LF display system in the cinema includes LF display modules tiled together to form an array of LF modules. The array of LF modules create a holographic object volume for displaying the holographic content in the cinema. The array of LF modules displays the holographic content to viewers in viewing volumes. The LF display system can be included in a LF film network. The LF film network allows holographic content to be created at one location and presented at another location. The LF film network includes a network system to manage the digital rights of the holographic performance content.

Disclosed is a method for generating a digital hologram representing a 3D scene including an object, an object being defined by points and their associated intensity. For each object, a prior step of calculating an “omnidirectional” angular spectrum of the light field emitted by an object in the scene on the surface of a geometric solid centered on the object, a surface of the solid being sampled according to a predetermined grid, a sample of the grid being associated with a vector frequency; for the scene, the following steps: —obtaining a pose of an observer in the world frame of reference; —deriving the hologram from the scene as a function of the pose obtained from the “multidirectional” angular spectra calculated for each object. The step of calculating an angular spectrum of the light field for each object of the scene takes into account predetermined viewing directions.
