PUPIL EXPANDER
There is disclosed herein a display device comprising a picture generating unit, a waveguide pupil expander and a viewer-tracking system. The picture generating unit comprises a first display channel, a second display channel and a controller. The first display channel is arranged to output first spatially-modulated light of a first colour. The first spatially-modulated light corresponds to a first picture. The second display channel is arranged to output second spatially-modulated light of a second colour. The second spatially-modulated light corresponding to a second picture. The controller is arranged to drive the first display channel and second display channel. The waveguide pupil expander comprises a pair of parallel reflective surfaces. The waveguide pupil expander defines an input port and a viewing window. The input port is arranged to receive the first spatially-modulated light and the second spatially-modulated light. The viewing window is an area or volume within which a viewer may view the first picture and the second picture. The pair of parallel reflective surfaces is arranged to guide the first spatially-modulated light and the second spatially-modulated light from the input port to the viewing window by a series of internal reflections. The reflectivity of a first reflective surface of the pair of parallel reflective surfaces is provided by a graded coating. The graded coating is partially transmissive to light of the first colour and light of the second colour. The transmissivity of the graded coating is non-achromatic. The viewer-tracking system is arranged to determine a viewing position within the viewing window. The controller is arranged to maintain as substantially constant the colour balance of the first and second picture as seen from the viewing position based on the viewing position determined by the viewer-tracking system.
DISPLAY ARTICLE
A display article (10) includes a plurality of display areas (12, and 13a to 13c). Display areas adjacent to each other differ in at least one of an average hue, an average brightness and an average chroma and a first object to be displayed (21) is formed by a combination of the plurality of display areas (12, and 13a to 13c). At least one of the display areas (12, 13a to 13c) includes a Fourier transform hologram (20R, 20Y) configured to convert incident ray from a point light source or a laser light source into a second object to be displayed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUGMENTING LIGHTFIELD IMAGES
A system or method for augmenting a lightfield image can include receiving a plurality of images of a subject, overlaying augmentation content on the images, optionally obscuring portions of the augmentation content based on the perspective of the image and the subject, and displaying the aligned images and the augmentation content at a holographic display.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HOLOGRAPHIC IMAGE DISPLAY
A holographic display and method for operating the holographic display can include: a holographic display operable in a plurality of modes, a computing system, and a sensor. The holographic display can option include a user interface device. Views displayed by the display can optionally be processed or modified based on a viewer pose relative to the display.
STRUCTURED ILLUMINATION MICROSCOPE AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD USING THE SAME
A structured illumination microscope includes a holographic image generator that generates a holographic image at a position overlapping an observation object. The structured illumination microscope further includes an image sensor that senses an interference image generated by overlapping the observation object with the holographic image. The structured illumination microscope additionally includes an image recovery processor that recovers an image of the observation object by comparing received data of the holographic image to received data of the interference image.
Holographic MEMS operated optical projectors
A method forms an image with a reconfigurable array of mirrors. The method includes configuring the array by translating some of the mirrors such that distances of the mirrors of the array from a reference plane have a non-uniform spatial distribution. The method includes illuminating the configured array with a coherent light beam such that part of the light beam is reflected off the array and is projected on a planar viewing screen.
Hologram-based character recognition method and apparatus
A hologram-based character recognition method in which representative characters are respectively matched to fingers and a group of characters including character objects is matched to representative characters, includes: displaying, when a first movement of a predetermined finger is detected, in a space a hologram image in which a predetermined representative character among the representative characters matched to the predetermined finger is arranged at a center and the character objects included in the group matched to the predetermined representative character are arranged around the predetermined representative character. The method further includes: recognizing the predetermined representative character as an input when a second movement of the predetermined finger is detected; and recognizing one of the one or more character objects as an input when the second movement of the predetermined finger is detected after the predetermined finger is dragged or moved to said one of the one or more character objects.
ILLUMINATION APPARATUS, HOLOGRAM DEVICE, AND VEHICLE CONTROL METHOD
An illumination apparatus that illuminates an illumination zone having a first direction and a second direction crossing the first direction is provided with a light source to emit a coherent light beam, and a diffraction optical device to diffract the coherent light beam incident from the light source. The diffraction optical device diffracts the incident coherent light beam so that a width of the illumination zone in the second direction gradually becomes wider along the first direction of the illumination zone from a nearer side to the diffraction optical device.
Light field display system based amusement park attraction
A light filed (LF) display system for displaying holographic content to viewers in an amusement park (e.g., as part of an amusement park ride). The LF display system in an amusement park includes LF display modules tiled together to form an array of LF modules. In some embodiments, the LF display system includes a tracking system and/or a viewer profiling module. The tracking system and viewer profiling module can monitor and store characteristics of viewers on the amusement park ride, a viewer profile describing a viewer, and/or responses of viewers to the holographic content during the amusement park ride. The holographic content created for display on an amusement park ride can be based on any of the monitored or stored information.
Subject positioning systems and methods
Subject positioning systems and methods are provided. A method may include obtaining first information of at least part of a subject when the subject is located at a preset position, and determining, based on the first information, a first position of each of one or more feature points located on the at least part of the subject. The method may include obtaining, using an imaging device, second information of the at least part of the subject when the subject is located at a candidate position. The method may further include determining, based on the second information, a second position of each of the one or more feature points, a first distance between the first position and the second position for each feature point of the one or more feature points, and a target position of the subject based at least in part on the one or more first distances.
