Microscope with rotating beam system
A microscope comprising a coherent light source producing a coherent light beam, a light beam guide system comprising a beam splitter configured to split the coherent light beam into a reference beam and a sample illumination beam, a sample holder configured to hold a sample to be observed, a sample illumination device configured to direct the sample illumination beam through the sample and into a microscope objective, a beam reuniter configured to reunite the reference beam and sample illumination beam after passage of the sample illumination beam through the sample to be observed, and a light sensing system configured to capture at least phase and intensity values of the coherent light beam downstream of the beam reuniter.
Displaying three-dimensional objects
Methods, apparatus, devices, and systems for displaying three-dimensional objects by individually diffracting different colors of light are provided. In one aspect, a system includes a display having a plurality of display elements and an optical device configured to diffract a plurality of different colors of light to the display. The optical device is configured such that, when the plurality of different colors of light is incident on the optical device, the optical device separates light of individual colors of the different colors while suppressing crosstalk between the different colors.
System for simulation of environmental energy
Disclosed is a device that utilizes a light-field display to project a virtual continuum of real world perspectives of a natural scene to a plurality of observer viewpoints to simulate a natural environment. An observer perceives different perspectives as he or she moves through the simulated environment just like the observer would as if he or she were in a natural environment.
Reconstructing objects with display zero order light suppression
Methods, apparatus, devices, and systems for reconstructing three-dimensional objects with display zero order light suppression are provided. In one aspect, a method includes illuminating a display with light, a portion of the light illuminating display elements of the display, and modulating the display elements of the display with a hologram corresponding to holographic data to diffract the portion of the light to form a holographic scene corresponding to the holographic data, and to suppress display zero order light in the holographic scene. The display zero order light can include reflected light from the display.
LIGHT FIELD VISION-CORRECTION DEVICE
Devices utilizing holographic 4D plenoptic capture and display technologies to generate a light field function to provide glasses-less vision correction for observers with imperfect vision, and to project an image according to the generated light field function, and methods for calibrating a four-dimensional light field for a user with an uncorrected visual acuity.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSFORMING HOLOGRAPHIC MICROSCOPY IMAGES TO MICROSCOPY IMAGES OF VARIOUS MODALITIES
A trained deep neural network transforms an image of a sample obtained with a holographic microscope to an image that substantially resembles a microscopy image obtained with a microscope having a different microscopy image modality. Examples of different imaging modalities include bright-field, fluorescence, and dark-field. For bright-field applications, deep learning brings bright-field microscopy contrast to holographic images of a sample, bridging the volumetric imaging capability of holography with the speckle-free and artifact-free image contrast of bright-field microscopy. Holographic microscopy images obtained with a holographic microscope are input into a trained deep neural network to perform cross-modality image transformation from a digitally back-propagated hologram corresponding to a particular depth within a sample volume into an image that substantially resembles a microscopy image of the sample obtained at the same particular depth with a microscope having the different microscopy image modality.
BEAM DEFLECTION LAYER AND 3-DIMENSIONAL DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
A beam deflection layer includes: a first selective polarization conversion-splitter that splits first color light in an incident light beam into 1A color light and 1B color light having different polarization directions from each other; a first beam deflector that deflects the 1A first first color light in the light beam from the 1A first selective polarization conversion-splitter, a first selective polarization converter that converts polarization directions of the 1A first first color light and the 1B second first color light in the light beam from the 1A first beam deflector, and a 1B second beam deflector configured to deflect the 1B second first color light in the light beam from the first selective polarization converter. The first color light, the 1A color light, and the 1B color light each have a first wavelength band.
APPARATUS AND METHOD OF REPRODUCTION OF A DIFFRACTIVE PATTERN
The present invention is an apparatus and method for display of a diffractive pattern. An array of optical elements called phasels are operative to transmit light of different phase shifts to create a diffractive pattern. Individual optical elements may create fixed phase shifts, or the phase shift may be variable. A method is demonstrated for encoding a diffractive pattern onto an array of phasels for display of a three dimensional image.
