Systems, devices, and methods for aperture-free hologram recording
Systems, devices, and methods for aperture-free hologram recording are described. The apertures typically used for hologram recording create unwanted secondary holograms by diffracting light. Aperture-free hologram recording eliminates these unwanted secondary holograms. Aperture-free hologram recording includes applying a mask to the holographic recording medium. The mask controls the size of the recorded hologram like an aperture but does not create unwanted secondary holograms. Hologram fringes are only present in the desired recording area and a thin boundary region. The mask may be present during recording, or the mask may be used to pre-bleach the holographic recording medium. Pre-bleaching the holographic recording medium renders a portion of the holographic recording medium insensitive to light, the hologram is recorded in the light-sensitive portions of the holographic recording medium.
Hologram Replicator Assemblies For Head Up Displays Including Continuous Transmission Neutral Density Filters And Corrective Leveling Elements
A replicator assembly includes reflective, transmissive, and transparent elements. The reflective element receives and reflects a hologram of a HUD system. The transmissive element includes a partially transmissive portion that receives a reflection of the hologram from the reflective element, outputs N replications of the hologram, and reflects N1 replications of the hologram. The partially transmissive portion is implemented as a continuous transmission neutral density filter across different phase regions. The phase regions of the partially transmissive portion correspond respectively to the N replications. N is an integer greater than or equal to 2. The reflective element reflects the N1 replications of the hologram. The transparent element is disposed between the reflective and transmissive elements and guides the N replications of the hologram between the reflective and transmissive elements. The reflective, transmissive and transparent elements are implemented as a replicator and collectively provide the N replications of the hologram.
DEEP LEARNING-ENABLED PORTABLE IMAGING FLOW CYTOMETER FOR LABEL-FREE ANALYSIS OF WATER SAMPLES
An imaging flow cytometer device includes a housing holding a multi-color illumination source configured for pulsed or continuous wave operation. A microfluidic channel is disposed in the housing and is fluidically coupled to a source of fluid containing objects that flow through the microfluidic channel. A color image sensor is disposed adjacent to the microfluidic channel and receives light from the illumination source that passes through the microfluidic channel. The image sensor captures image frames containing raw hologram images of the moving objects passing through the microfluidic channel. The image frames are subject to image processing to reconstruct phase and/or intensity images of the moving objects for each color. The reconstructed phase and/or intensity images are then input to a trained deep neural network that outputs a phase recovered image of the moving objects. The trained deep neural network may also be trained to classify object types.

Method of displaying a hologram on a display device comprising pixels
There is provided a holographic projector comprising a hologram engine and a controller. The hologram engine is arranged to provide a hologram comprising a plurality of hologram pixels. Each hologram pixel has a respective hologram pixel value. The controller is arranged to selectively-drive a plurality of light-modulating pixels so as to display the hologram. Displaying the hologram comprises displaying each hologram pixel value on a contiguous group of light-modulating pixels of the plurality of light-modulating pixels such that there is a one-to-many pixel correlation between the hologram and the plurality of light-modulating pixels.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PIXEL SUPER-RESOLUTION OF MULTIPLEXED HOLOGRAPHIC COLOR IMAGES
A method of generating a color image of a sample includes obtaining a plurality of low resolution holographic images of the sample using a color image sensor, the sample illuminated simultaneously by light from three or more distinct colors, wherein the illuminated sample casts sample holograms on the image sensor and wherein the plurality of low resolution holographic images are obtained by relative x, y, and z directional shifts between sample holograms and the image sensor. Pixel super-resolved holograms of the sample are generated at each of the three or more distinct colors. De-multiplexed holograms are generated from the pixel super-resolved holograms. Phase information is retrieved from the de-multiplexed holograms using a phase retrieval algorithm to obtain complex holograms. The complex hologram for the three or more distinct colors is digitally combined and back-propagated to a sample plane to generate the color image.
