A mobile cart includes sets of arms from which bags may be suspended. The arms may be separated by a predetermined distance. Holes for suspending the bags from such arms may be laterally formed in such bags and separated by the predetermined distance. The arms may be extended when the mobile cart is being used to retrieve items from a materials handling facility, such as a warehouse or retail establishment, and retracted when the mobile cart is not in service. An open or expanded bag may be suspended near free ends of such arms, thereby enabling one or more workers to place items therein, while one or more closed or collapsed bags may be suspended at mounting ends of such arms and stored until one or more of such bags is desired. When the open bag is filled with desired items, the open bag may be removed from the arms.

Item carousel system

An example item carousel system is described. The system includes a terminal including a processor and a scanner. The system includes a carousel rotatably mounted to the terminal, the carousel including two or more bagging sections configured to receive bags. The system includes a motorized actuator configured to actuate rotation of the carousel relative to the terminal. The terminal is configured to read data from a machine readable identifier associated with an item using the scanner, and retrieve, using a retrieval module, item characteristics associated with the item from an item database. The terminal is configured to identify one bagging section of the two or more bagging sections of the carousel capable of receiving the item with the item characteristics, and mechanically rotate the carousel relative to the terminal with the motorized actuator such that the identified one bagging section is oriented toward a bagging area of the terminal.

Bag retaining fixture

Described is a bagging station for use in a retail store to hold paper bags for filling with purchased products. The bagging station includes a bag retaining fixture for holding paper bags instead of hooks for holding plastic bags. The bag retaining fixture includes an elongate rod and a roller wheel. The elongate rod acts as an axle for the roller wheel. The elongate rod is coupled to a side wall of the bagging station. The elongate rod biases the roller wheel against the side wall. A side of a bag placed between the roller wheel and the side wall holds the paper bag in position on the bagging station so the bag can be filled with purchased items, then removed to be carried out of the store.
