Item Carousel System

An example item carousel system is described. The system includes a terminal including a processor and a scanner. The system includes a carousel rotatably mounted to the terminal, the carousel including two or more bagging sections configured to receive bags. The system includes a motorized actuator configured to actuate rotation of the carousel relative to the terminal. The terminal is configured to read data from a machine readable identifier associated with an item using the scanner, and retrieve, using a retrieval module, item characteristics associated with the item from an item database. The terminal is configured to identify one bagging section of the two or more bagging sections of the carousel capable of receiving the item with the item characteristics, and mechanically rotate the carousel relative to the terminal with the motorized actuator such that the identified one bagging section is oriented toward a bagging area of the terminal.

The bag dispenser includes a bag holder rod that holds the roll of bags and allows the roll of bags to rotate on the bag holder rod in order to dispense bags. The bag dispenser also includes a bag separator that facilitates separation of a bag from the roll. The bag dispenser also includes a rod coupler that couples the bag dispenser to a rod, such as a rod of a shopping cart, a rod of a shopping cart basket or a rod of a pick-up basket, for example. The bag dispenser quickly and easily dispenses bags so that an employee of the retail store does not waste time and effort obtaining a bag.

The carousel includes a first tier and a second tier, each of the first tier and the second tier including a plurality of item receptacle compartments, each item receptacle compartment configured to hold at least one item receptacle; a motor configured to rotate at least one of the first tier or the second tier to bring one of the plurality of item receptacles to an active filling position; and an item packaging carousel control system including a processor and communications circuitry, the communications circuitry configured to receive item information from an item scanning system, and the item packaging carousel control system configured to provide a rotation signal to the motor to cause at least one of the first tier or the second tier to rotate to bring a selected one of the plurality of item receptacle compartments to an active filling position based on the received item information.

Bag retaining fixture

Described is a cabinet for holding paper bags at a bagging station in a retail store, and a bag retaining fixture mounted inside the cabinet. The cabinet holds a stack of paper bags, and the bag retaining fixture secures the stack of paper bags inside the cabinet. The cabinet housing can be mounted to or near the bagging station. The bag retaining fixture is coupled to an inner surface of the cabinet. The bag retaining fixture includes a plate and an elongate wire coupled to the plate. The elongate wire puts pressure on the stack of paper bags to hold them in place as individual paper bags are removed for filling. The cabinet for holding paper bags and the bag retaining fixture keep the stack of paper bags from being scattered as the paper bags are stored and dispensed.

A bagging station coupled to the bagging station support frame will be available for customers to bag their purchases wherever the bagging station support frame with bagging station is mounted.
