ENERGY MODULATION SYSTEMS FOR DIFFRACTION BASED HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAYS

A holographic energy system is operable to generate an output wavefront according to a complex amplitude function. The holographic energy system includes a continuous three-dimensional energy medium, an array of energy devices configured to output energy to interact with the continuous three-dimensional energy medium to define a hologram therein, and an electromagnetic (EM) energy source positioned to output coherent EM energy that is incident on the hologram in the continuous three-dimensional energy medium to generate an output wavefront.

The present invention relates to an arrangement for the generation of images of optical sections of a three-dimensional (3D) volume in space such as an object, scene, or target, comprising: an illumination unit, an optical arrangement for the imaging of the object onto at least one spatially resolving detector, a scanning mechanism for scanning the entire object and a signal processing unit for the implementation of a method for digital reconstruction of a three-dimensional representation of the object from images of said object as obtained by said detector (which may be in a form of a hologram), wherein the optical arrangement includes a diffractive optical element (herein a phase pinhole), realized using a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) configured to mimic an actual physical pinhole, while allowing the formation of a three-dimensional representation for a specific point of interest in said object, such that for each scanning position a single hologram or an image is recorded.

HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY

Disclosed herein is a holographic display which enables stereoscopic display of colors by changing a structure and mitigates a flickering effect by lowering the response speed. The holographic display may deliver an image to different positions for the left eye and right eye at the same time, thereby lowering the frequency necessary for supply of holographic image information. Thereby, the holographic display may address the issues of the afterimage effect and flickering effect in a liquid crystal panel-based spatial light modulator.

Image reproduction device, hologram recording device, and digital holography device

An image reproduction device reproduces an image including N different parameters of a wavelength range or the like, and includes: a multiple hologram acquisition part that acquires N to 2N multiple holograms obtained by multiplex-recording interference patterns for each parameter; a parameter selection part that selects the parameters one by one; a hologram generation part that generates a computer generated hologram containing two lightwaves having the selected parameter, from the multiple hologram; and a lightwave restoration part that restores one of the two lightwaves from the computer generated hologram.
