A method and system for improving the control of a holographic projection system in order to meet, or to attempt to meet, one or more targets or aims for a holographically reconstructed image that is produced by the holographic projection system. The target, or aim, may concern the luminance of part or all of the holographically reconstructed image.

Holographic plasma lenses

A diffractive optical element, such as a holographic plasma lens, can be made by direction two laser beams so that they overlap in a nonlinear material, to form an interference pattern in the nonlinear material. The interference pattern can modify the index of refraction in the nonlinear material to produce the diffractive optical element. The interference pattern can modify the distribution of plasma for the nonlinear material, which can adjust the index of refraction. A third laser beam can be directed through the diffractive optical element to modify the third laser beam, such as to focus, defocus, or collimate the third laser beam.

Phase imaging apparatus, phase imaging method

A spatial modulator is provided on a plane conjugate to a sample plane on which a sample is to be placed. The spatial modulator spatially modulates illumination light irradiated to the sample 2 or object light that has passed through or that has been reflected by the sample. A dark-field optical system removes the non-scattered light component of the first object light affected by the spatial light modulator so as to generate second object light. An image sensor records a hologram based on the second object light. A calculation processing apparatus combines complex amplitude information based on the modulation pattern supplied to the spatial light modulator and complex amplitude information based on the hologram with respect to the second object light so as to acquire a phase distribution originating from the sample.

An imaging module of a projection device generates a multi-color image such that a first color sub-image with a first wavelength and a second color sub-image with a second wavelength are generated. Deflection efficiency curves for a specified angular range about a specified viewing angle are set such that a first efficiency ratio for the specified angular range is constant. The imaging module is actuated such that when the multi-color image is generated, a first brightness ratio of the brightness of the first color sub-image to the brightness of the second color sub-image is inversely proportional to the a efficiency ratio such that different deflection efficiency curves are compensated for and such that the viewer can perceive the multi-color image as a true-color virtual image at viewing angles from the specified angular range.
