One exemplary embodiment provides a system comprising: a light source; an image producing unit, which produces an image upon interaction with light approaching the image producing unit from the light source; an eyepiece; and a mirror, directing light from the image to a surface of the eyepiece, wherein the surface has a shape of a solid of revolution formed by revolving a planar curve at least 180 around an axis of revolution.

HOLOGRAPHIC DECODING AND DISPLAYING METHODS AND DEVICES FOR EXCHANGING CONFIGURATION DATA
20250095520 · 2025-03-20 ·

A holographic display device accepts different configurations for rendering a Computer Generated Hologram. The decoder which prepares the CGH may not have the required memory and processing resources to provide the holographic display device with CGH generated in the nominal preferred configuration. According to the present principles, messages are exchanged between the holographic decoder and the holographic display device to select a configuration that the holographic display device accept and that fit the memory and processing resources of the holographic decoder.

A volumetric display system including a volumetric display for displaying a scene viewable as a three-dimensional floating-in-the-air scene in a display space, enabling a user to reach a first object into the display space, a location determination unit locating real objects in the display space, providing a location of the first object when the first object is inserted into the display space, and a computer for receiving the location of the first object, detecting when the location of the first object is at a location where an object is displayed in the three-dimensional scene, thereby determining that the first object is viewable as touching the displayed object following a detection of the first object viewable as touching the displayed object, producing a new three-dimensional scene displaying the displayed object as if manipulated by the first object. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

Holographic projector

A holographic projector includes an illumination system arranged to illuminate a hologram displayed on the pixel area of a spatial light modulator to form a holographic wavefront, and further includes a waveguide including an input port arranged to receive the holographic wavefront and a pair of opposing surfaces arranged to waveguide the holographic wavefront. A first surface of the pair of opposing surfaces is partially reflective-transmissive such that a plurality of replicas of the holographic wavefront are emitted therefrom. The illumination system includes a light source arranged to emit diverging light and a first collimating lens arranged to collimate the light. The collimated light has a varying intensity profile, in at least one dimension. The illumination system is configured such that the pixel area is contained within an area delineated by the width of the intensity profile of the collimated light at half the maximum intensity of said intensity profile.
