METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR AUGMENTED REALITY

The present invention generally provides systems, methods and ophthalmic lenses for image display of a virtual image, such as the display of a holographic image.

According to the invention, an ophthalmic lens is advantageously configured for optimizing the visualization of said displayed virtual images.

Holographic optical element design and manufacturing

Disclosed herein are devices and methods to provide a holographic optical element (HOE) having a modified shape and a structural attribute. At least one wavefront may be used to cause a first structure change in a material, used for the HOE, in a first shape. The material used for the HOE may be changed from the first shape to the modified shape to cause a second structure change in the material. The structural attribute in the material may be provided from a combination of the first structure change and the second structure change.

Systems, methods and ophthalmic lenses for image display of a virtual image, such as display of a holographic image. An ophthalmic lens is configured to optimize visualization of the displayed virtual images.

Display device

A display device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a transparent screen; one or more imaging units; and a video projection unit that acquires positional information regarding a predetermined subject included in each of captured images obtained by the one or more imaging units and then irradiates the transparent screen with video light on the basis of the positional information to cause predetermined video to appear on the transparent screen for the subject.

Lighting information comprising at least the reflectance data of a plurality of regions of an object surface is generated and printed out as a series of relightable holograms. Each of the printed holograms comprises the reflectance data of a corresponding region of the object. A model of the object is generated such that the model also comprises a plurality of portions corresponding to the regions of the object surface. The series of holograms are each affixed to a portion of the model such that a particular hologram of the series which encodes the reflectance data of a particular region of the object is affixed to the corresponding portion of the model. In an embodiment, the model of the object is generated from a metal. The series of holograms is engraved directly onto the metallic model such that a particular hologram of the series which encodes the reflectance data of a particular region of the object is engraved onto the corresponding portion of the metallic model.

Holographic Substrate-Guided Wave-Based See-Through Display

A holographic substrate-guided wave-based see-through display can has a microdisplay, capable of emitting light in the form of an image. The microdisplay directs its output to a holographic optical element, capable of accepting the light in the form of an image. The microdisplay directs its output to a holographic optical element, capable of accepting the image from the microdisplay, and capable of transmitting the light. The holographic optical element couples its output to an elongate substrate, capable of accepting the light from the holographic lens at a first location, and transmitting the light along a length of the substrate by total internal reflection to a second location, the elongate substrate being capable of transmitting the accepted light from the second location. The substrate couples out what it receives to a transparent holographic optical element, capable of accepting the light transmitted from the substrate and transmitting it to a location outside of the holographic optical element as a viewable image.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR APERTURE-FREE HOLOGRAM RECORDING

Systems, devices, and methods for aperture-free hologram recording are described. The apertures typically used for hologram recording create unwanted secondary holograms by diffracting light. Aperture-free hologram recording eliminates these unwanted secondary holograms. Aperture-free hologram recording includes applying a mask to the holographic recording medium. The mask controls the size of the recorded hologram like an aperture but does not create unwanted secondary holograms. Hologram fringes are only present in the desired recording area and a thin boundary region. The mask may be present during recording, or the mask may be used to pre-bleach the holographic recording medium. Pre-bleaching the holographic recording medium renders a portion of the holographic recording medium insensitive to light, the hologram is recorded in the light-sensitive portions of the holographic recording medium.
