Virtual and augmented reality signatures

A method implemented on a visual computing device to authenticate one or more users includes receiving a first three-dimensional pattern from a user. The first three-dimensional pattern is sent to a server computer. At a time of user authentication, a second three-dimensional pattern is received from the user. The second three-dimensional pattern is sent to the server computer. An indication is received from the server computer as to whether the first three-dimensional pattern matches the second three-dimensional pattern within a margin of error. When the first three-dimensional pattern matches the second three-dimensional pattern within the margin of error, the user is authenticated at the server computer. When the first three-dimensional pattern does not match the second three-dimensional pattern within the margin of error, user is prevented from being authenticated at the server computer.

System and method for an interactive digitally rendered avatar of a subject person
11582424 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A system and method for an interactive digitally rendered avatar of a subject person to participate in a web meeting is described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving an invite to a web meeting on a video conferencing platform, wherein the invite identifies a subject person and the video conferencing platform. The method also includes generating an interactive avatar of the subject person based on a data collection associated with the subject person stored in a database. The method further includes instantiating a platform integrator associated with the video conferencing platform identified in the invite and joining, by the interactive avatar of the subject person, the web meeting on the video conferencing platform. The platform integrator transforms outputs and inputs between the video conferencing platform and an interactive digitally rendered avatar system so that the interactive avatar of the subject person participates in the web meeting.

Photodetector activations

An example computing device includes a photodetector to measure an amount of light incident on a detection surface of the photodetector. The example computing device includes a state sensor to activate the photodetector responsive to the computing device being in a detection state. The example computing device also includes a processor. An example processor identifies, during the detection state, a user gesture based on an output of the photodetector. The user gesture blocks light incident on the detection surface of the photodetector. The example processor also alters an operation of the computing device based on the user gesture.

Weakly supervised learning for improving multimodal sensing platform

A machine learning model is trained for user activity detection and context detection on a mobile device. The machine learning model is configured to learn a statistical relationship between an always-on sensing modality of the mobile device and actual user context. Rather than user annotations, the machine learning model is enhanced and personalized for the always-on sensing modality by automated annotations obtained from non-always-on sensing modalities. The non-always-on sensing modality opportunistically provides an imperfect label of user context, where the imperfect label has a known associated probability of error.

Method and system for determining a current gaze direction
11579687 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A method for determining a current gaze direction of a user in relation to a three-dimensional (“3D”) scene, the 3D scene sampled by a rendering function to produce a two-dimensional (“2D”) projection image of the 3D scene, the sampling performed based on a virtual camera in turn being associated with a camera position and camera direction in the 3D scene. The method includes determining, by a gaze direction detection means, a first gaze direction of the user related to the 3D scene at a first gaze time point. The method includes determining a time-dependent virtual camera 3D transformation representing a change of a virtual camera position and/or virtual camera direction between the first gaze time point and a second sampling. The method includes determining the current gaze direction as a modified gaze direction calculated based on the first gaze direction and an inverse of the time-dependent virtual camera 3D transformation.

Augmented reality placement for user feedback

Methods and systems are provided for generating augmented reality (AR) scenes where the AR scenes include one or more artificial intelligence elements (AIEs) that are rendered as visual objects in the AR scenes. The method includes generating an AR scene for rendering on a display; the AR scene includes a real-world space and virtual objects projected in the real-world space. The method includes analyzing a field of view into the AR scene; the analyzing is configured to detect an action by a hand of the user when reaching into the AR scene. The method includes generating one or more AIEs rendered as virtual objects in the AR scene, each AIE is configured to provide a dynamic interface that is selectable by a gesture of the hand of the user. In one embodiment, each of the AIEs is rendered proximate to a real-world object present in the real-world space; the real-world object is located in a direction of where the hand of the user is detected to be reaching when the user makes the action by the hand.

Self-beating scheme for FMCW-based proximity detector for 5G MMW devices

Aspects of the present disclosure provide a simplified solution for proximity detection of an object in a wireless communication that does not require complex hardware to maintain mutual coupling reference signal. Specifically, in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure, the received signal that may include the mutual coupling signal and target signal may be multiplied by itself to extract the delay information associated with the target signal. The techniques outlined here may provide a greater robustness to variations of mutual coupling induced by phone covers, for example, being added by the user.

Method and apparatus for applying free space input for surface constrained control

A free space input standard is instantiated on a processor. Free space input is sensed and communicated to the processor. If the free space input satisfies the free space input standard, a touch screen input response is invoked in an operating system. The free space input may be sensed using continuous implicit, discrete implicit, active explicit, or passive explicit approaches. The touch screen input response may be invoked through communicating virtual touch screen input, a virtual input event, or a virtual command to or within the operating system. In this manner free space gestures may control existing touch screen interfaces and devices, without modifying those interfaces and devices directly to accept free space gestures.

Displaying a representation of a user touch input detected by an external device

A device includes a touch-sensitive display, one or more processors, and memory storing one or more programs including instructions for receiving data from an external device representing user input received over a duration of time at the external device. The programs may include instructions for determining whether the electronic device is actively executing an application for playback. The programs may further include instructions for in accordance with a determination that the electronic device is not actively executing an application for playback: displaying an indication of the receiving of the data; and displaying an affordance, wherein the affordance when selected launches the application for playback and causes the electronic device to playback the received data according to the duration of time of the user input.
