Median values for a stream of received data values in a data processing system (e.g. an image processing system) are determined. A first median value of the received data values within a first subset of data values of the received stream is determined, and intermediate data used for determining the first median value is stored. The stored intermediate data is used to determine a median value of the received data values within a second subset of data values of the received stream, wherein the second subset at least partially overlaps with the first subset. The determined median values are outputted for use in the data processing system, e.g. for further processing.

A musician discovery system is provided. The musician discovery system includes a first interface for displaying a plurality of musicians organized according to a musical characteristic. The system includes a second interface for presenting multimedia information about a first musician from the plurality of musicians displayed on the first interface. The system includes means for comparing a second plurality of musicians with the first musician using the multimedia information presented on the second interface about the first musician. Furthermore, the system includes a third interface for recommending a second musician from the second plurality of musicians based on the comparing means.

An identifier of an article that is being offered as collateral is received from a first computer system. A unique identifier and a score associated with a first user is accessed. The article identifier is matched against a second database to identify a second computer system that has subscribed to notifications associated with the article identifier. An electronic notification is generated for the second computer system that includes the article identifier, the unique identifier, and the score. An offer for an amount of a collateralized against the article associated with the article identifier is received from the second computer system. The offer received from the second computer system is sent to the first computer system. Systems and methods are described for improving content classifications and metadata for a plurality of content items. The content items may comprise various forms of media content. A content recommendation processing system may automatically annotate and/or classify content items with a plurality of metadata tag information describing content items. The disclosed system and methods may also determine and/or assign applicability scores indicating a level or degree of suitability for annotating a content item with particular metadata tag information, and may utilize applicability scores to provide content to calibrate metadata information for a plurality of content items, and further to provide content recommendations to users.

An example method is provided in according with one implementation of the present disclosure. The method includes extracting features related to a plurality of users and a plurality of items and computing a correction parameter score for each of a plurality of user-item pair combinations. The method further includes computing a user response value for a user-item pair combination by applying a generalized linear model to the features of the user-item pair combination and using the correction parameter score for the user-item pair combination in the generalized linear model.

In a particular implementation, a data storage device includes a memory configured to store one or more user content items, a plurality of supplemental content items, and a first plurality of keywords associated with the plurality of supplemental content items. The data storage device further includes a controller coupled to the memory and configured to analyze content of a particular user content item of the one or more user content items to determine one or more descriptors related to the content, to select a particular supplemental content item of the plurality of supplemental content items based on the one or more descriptors and the first plurality of keywords, and to combine the particular supplemental content item with the particular user content item to generate an augmented content item.

A system for managing sponsorships. The system generates a compatibility score based on target information provided by a potential sponsor and information obtained from potential sponsorship candidate. The target information includes information on personal characteristics and project/event characteristics deemed desirable by a sponsor in a sponsorship candidate and/or event. The information obtained from the sponsorship candidates includes personal information relating to the candidate and information on projects/events associated with the candidate. The system then presents to the potential sponsorship candidate potential sponsors which have a compatibility score above a predetermined threshold i.e. presents a listing of potential sponsors which best match the user. The user may then elect to accept or reject sponsorship from the listed sponsors.
