Information processing apparatus and semiconductor device

A semiconductor device includes three integrated circuits. One of the integrated circuits includes: a first connector configured to connect to a device; and a transmitter. The transmitter is configured to transmit to another integrated circuit, first data on each of a plurality of pieces of packet data. The transmitter is also configured to, when the first connector is connected to the device, while a second controller is performing a second process, transmit, to a first controller, a request to process data transmitted from the device.

Rule engine optimization via parallel execution

A first graph that includes a plurality of containers is accessed. The containers each contain one or more rules that each have corresponding computer code. The containers are configured for sequential execution by a rule engine. The computer code corresponding to the one or more rules in each of the containers is electronically scanned. Based on the electronic scan, an interdependency among the rules is determined. Based on the determined interdependency, a second graph is generated. The second graph includes all of the rules of the containers, but not the containers themselves. At least some of the rules are configured for parallel execution by the rule engine.

Surrogate process creation technique for high process-per-server scenarios

A system and method for launching parallel processes on a server configured to process a number of parallel processes. A request is received from a parallel application to start a number of parallel processes. In response to this request a launcher creates a surrogate. The surrogate inherits communications channels from the launcher. The surrogate then executes activities related to the launch of the parallel processes, and then launches the parallel processes. The parallel processes are launched and the surrogate is terminated.

Techniques for scheduling between applications on a core

A method of managing operation of a computing device is provided. The method includes (a) running a system scheduler that schedules execution of a first application and a second application on a central processing unit (CPU) core of the computing device; (b) while the first application is executing on the core, detecting, by the first application, a context-switch opportunity; and (c) issuing, by the first application in response to detecting the context-switch opportunity, a blocking operation that triggers the system scheduler to perform a rescheduling operation between the first and second applications on the CPU core. An apparatus, system, and computer program product for performing a similar method are also provided.

TECHNIQUES FOR HYBRID COMPUTER THREAD CREATION AND MANAGEMENT

A technique for operating a computer system to support an application, a first application server environment, and a second application server environment includes intercepting a work request relating to the application issued to the first application server environment prior to execution of the work request. A thread adapted for execution in the first application server environment is created. A context is attached to the thread that non-disruptively modifies the thread into a hybrid thread that is additionally suitable for execution in the second application server environment. The hybrid thread is returned to the first application server environment.

TRANSACTION ORDERING

Nodes of a database service may receive a read request to perform a read of a record stored by the database service and a transaction request to perform a transaction to the record. First and second indications of time may be associated with the read and transaction, respectively. A potential read anomaly (e.g., fuzzy read, read skew, etc.) may be detected based, at least in part, on a determination that the first indication of time is within a threshold value of the second indication of time. In response to detecting the potential read anomaly, the read may be performed after the transaction specified by the transaction request, regardless of whether the first indication of time is indicative of an earlier point in time than the second indication of time.

NETWORK FUNCTIONS VIRTUALIZATION MANAGEMENT AND ORCHESTRATION METHOD, NETWORK FUNCTIONS VIRTUALIZATION MANAGEMENT AND ORCHESTRATION SYSTEM, AND PROGRAM

A network functions virtualization management and orchestration system with a VNF descriptor (VNFD) including a information element that allows an instance created based on the VNFD to be distinguished by name. The information element includes an information element of a VM name that describes a naming rule for a virtual machine (VM).

STORAGE SYSTEM

The storage system is capable of creating one or more virtual storage subsystems to which virtual resources having logically divided a processing capacity of the physical resources are allocated, and upon creating a virtual volume for receiving I/O requests from the host within the virtual storage subsystem, the virtual storage subsystem allocates the virtual resource to the virtual volume, and when an I/O request to the virtual volume is received from the host, performs processing related to the I/O request using the virtual resource having been allocated. According further to the storage system, after allocating the virtual resource to the virtual volume, the storage system raises a utilization rate of the virtual resource allocated to the virtual volume in a stepwise manner.

MEDIA PRODUCTION TO OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORTED DISPLAY

The rendering of media generated by media production systems on a display of a different computer system that operates an operating system. A display of a computer system that operates an operating system is sometimes referred to as a smart display. When the computer system receives the media from the media production system(s), the computer system formulates an operating system control that, when triggered, performs one or more operating system operations. The computer system then displays a visualization of the operating system control along with at least part of the received media on the display of the computer system. The operating system control is structured so as to be triggered when a user interacts in at least a particular way with the visualization of the operating system control. Thus, rather than simply render the media as provided, additional operating system level control is provided by the smart display.
