System and method for capture and distribution of information collected from signs

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for capturing, collecting, and distributing event information displayed on signs. The method may include capturing, by a mobile device, an image of a sign that displays information for an event. The method may also include extracting information for the event from the captured image of the sign, and determining a location of the mobile device when the image of the sign was captured. Furthermore, the method may include uploading, to a server, a time when the image was captured, the information for the event extracted from the captured image, a location of the event determined from extracted event information, a location of the sign, or a combination thereof.

Associating an audio track with an image

Techniques described herein automatically associate an image with an audio track. At least some implementations identify an audio track of interest, and automate associating an image with the audio track. Some implementations gather context information during playback of an audio track, and use the context information to automatically identify an image to associate with the audio track. Upon associating the image with the audio track, various implementations render the image during subsequent playback of the audio track.

Embodiments may generate artifact/quality tag information associated with the media to indicate artifacts and/or degradations present in the media, and may store the artifact/quality tag information as metadata and/or in a database. Embodiments may identify, based on the artifact/quality tag information associated with the media, at least one artificial intelligence (AI)-based media processing model to be applied to the media to enhance the media. The at least one AI-based media processing model may be configured to enhance at least one artifact detected in the media. Embodiments may enhance the media by applying the at least one AI-based media enhancement model to the media.

Visual object instance descriptor for place recognition

An approach to place recognition from an image makes use of the detection of objects at a set of known places as well as at an unknown place. Images of the detected objects in an image of the unknown place are processed to yield respective numerical descriptors, and these descriptors are used to compare the unknown place to the known places to recognize the unknown place. At least some embodiments make use of a trained parameterized image processor to transform an image of an object to an object descriptor, and the training of the processor is meant to preserve distinctions between different instances of a type of object, as well as distinctions between entirely different types of objects.
