DIGITAL JUKEBOX DEVICE WITH IMPROVED USER INTERFACES, AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems and, more particularly, to systems that incorporate digital downloading jukebox features and improved user interfaces. For instance, a smart search may be provided, e.g., where search results vary based on the popularity of songs within the venue, in dependence on songs being promoted, etc. As another example, a tile-based approach to organizing groupings of songs is provided. Groupings may involve self-populating collections of songs that combine centrally-promoted songs, songs in a given genre that are popular across an audiovisual distribution network, and songs that are locally popular and match up with the given genre (e.g., because of shared attributes such as same or similar genre, artist, etc.). Different tile visual presentations also are contemplated, as are different physical jukebox designs. In certain example embodiments, a sealed core unit with the “brains” of the jukebox is insertable into a docking station.

AUTOMATICALLY DETERMINING AN ACQUISITION THRESHOLD FOR AN EXCHANGE ITEM

A method includes receiving exchange item information regarding an exchange item from a computing device of an exchange item marketplace network. The method further includes obtaining second exchange item information regarding a plurality of exchange items associated with the exchange item marketplace network based on the exchange item information. The method further includes determining an acquisition approach from a plurality of acquisition approaches for the exchange item and determining, based on the acquisition approach, an acquisition threshold for the exchange item based on the exchange item information, the second exchange item information, and acquisition rules associated with the exchange item. The method further includes updating the exchange item information based on the acquisition threshold to produce updated exchange item information and modifying a record associated with the exchange item to include the updated exchange item information, the record being stored in a marketplace database of the exchange item marketplace network.

Digital downloading jukebox system with central and local music server

A digital downloading jukebox system including a central server and a plurality of remote jukebox devices each provided with a local server that preferably mirrors the central server and enables selected songs to be immediately downloaded to the jukebox for reproduction. The local server and jukebox may also provide, through control of the central server, song download services to other jukebox devices, such as residential jukeboxes. The jukebox system may also act as a monitoring/management device for other coin operated equipment present in a location where the jukebox is located, thereby enabling the jukebox device to perform updates on other equipment under control of the central server.

AUDIO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM

An audio recommendation system adds a “recents” tab in a memory accessible to a messaging system including any audio tracks (songs or sounds) encountered by applications in order to allow quick access to any recently played songs or sounds provided in a message to/from another user or encountered during activities of the user. The displayed “recents” tab enables the user to revisit songs or sounds that the user may wish to use later in another message or to include in the user's music playlist. The “recents” tab also enables the user to browse an audio history in received messages without needing to explicitly save the music or sounds upon receipt. The system determines the source of the encountered sound or song and stores the source of the sound or song in a playlist associated with the recents tab with identifying information for the sound or song.
