STANDING DESK MAT
20210065916 · 2021-03-04 ·

Standing desks, such as fixed work surfaces or height-adjustable desks or computer/workstation supports, provide relief from computer or other desk work that might otherwise force a user to remain seated. However, concerns about utilization and comfort are points of resistance to standing desks. A smart pressure sensing mat is provided that may provide additional cushioning and comfort as well as a source of data input for record keeping, usage verification, user identification, and control signals. Identification of users' utilizing a mat may then be utilized for contact-tracing to identify possible exposure or transmission of contagions in a workplace.

A standing desk mat includes a base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a shoe of a standing user off a floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat, and a strap operably connected to the base to form a bridge spanning a portion of the base for an upper portion of the shoe to engage a bottom portion of the strap upon the user raising the shoe above the base to raise at least a portion of the standing desk mat therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the strap upon the user lowering the shoe to lower the base to the floor therewith.

Method of forming an anti-fatigue mat

An anti-fatigue mat is made by placing a top surface layer member upside down on a mold surface having a contiguous raised portion that defines the perimeter of the anti-fatigue mat. The raised portion surrounds a region into which a major portion of the surface layer sits, resulting in a depression formed relative to the height of the raised portion in the area surrounded by the raised portion. A frame member fit around the raised portion and holds the top surface layer member in place. A gel material is dispensed onto the back side, which is facing upward in the mold, of the top surface layer member. A substrate material is then dispensed onto the gel material and a press head is lowered onto the mold to apply pressure and heat. After the press head is removed, the rough mat can be removed and trimmed to form an anti-fatigue mat. The composition of the gel and substrate materials are carefully selected to achieve the desired bonding of the layers as well as the desired resilience and compressibility of the mat to provide the anti-fatigue effect.

MODULAR STANDING BOARD
20210015262 · 2021-01-21 ·

A modular standing board for use with a standing desk or an adjustable height desk. The modular standing board includes a rigid base having an outer top perimeter which has a raised lip configured to securely contain a plurality of mat modules. The rigid base also has a bottom side having a recessed round area for receiving a balancing dome. The balancing dome has a flat top side and a curved bottom side. The flat top side of the balancing dome is magnetically attached to the recessed round area of the bottom of the rigid base. The plurality of mat modules provide a substantially continuous top surface when contained within the raised lip of the rigid base. The standing board alleviates problems that typically arise due to standing for a long time at a standing desk by providing a comfortable, balanced, and changeable standing board having swappable standing mat modules.

Anti-fatigue mat with an encapsulatively sealed gel member

An anti-fatigue mat is disclosed including a foam member and a gel member that each exhibit a different durometer. The foam member includes a support surface that supports the gel member atop the foam member. The foam member includes a foam ramp that extends outwardly downward from the gel member to a bottom surface of the foam member. A flexible cover layer is situated above the gel member and extends over the foam ramp so that the foam member and the flexible cover layer together encapsulatively seal the gel member therein. The flexible cover layer includes an indentation region situated substantially adjacent a gel/foam interface between the gel member and the foam member and further situated a predetermined distance from the peripheral edge of the mat in one embodiment. The bottom surface of the mat may include a non-slip surface to stabilize the mat on the particular surface that the mat covers.

An anti-fatigue modular floor mat includes a set of interlocking tiles. Each tile comprises tabs that extend from an edge of the tile; the tabs can comprise a cavity and a pad opposite the cavity. The tiles can comprise indentations disposed on a bottom of the tile and laterally spaced from the tabs along the edge. Protrusions can extend from the indentation. The tabs can be configured to mate with corresponding indentations on corresponding tiles and the protrusions can be configured to be inserted into corresponding cavities to establish a multi-connection modular floor mat.

THERAPY PLATFORM MULTI-LAYER ANTI-FATIGUE MATTING
20200315385 · 2020-10-08 ·

An ergonomic modular ergonomic multi-layer platform with a synthetic tapered marginal border including a non-compressible wood base covered with at least one compressible mat disposed between the wood base and a top non-slip mat to provide occupational workers with a therapeutic, forgiving work surface to protect them from the health risks of working, walking and standing on a concrete floor or common anti-fatigue mat used in many factories today. The therapy platform is raised off the floor to offer suspension, thus promoting a spring effect for absorbing and returning compression force resulting in reduced stress loads and compression force for people who work, walk or stand fort extended periods of time. The therapy platform is modular in design so that the tapered borders of separate modular sections connect for a snug fit. The vertical edges of the wood sections also have connection points that provide a leveling effect and further enhance the fit of the module sections.
