A pen detection system is provided which does not require an integrated circuit dedicated to a large display panel. A pen detection system 1 includes an integrated circuit 3a and an integrated circuit 3b. The integrated circuit 3a is connected to a first partial column electrode group 2xGa to acquire a first column level distribution indicating a level distribution of a pen signal in the first partial column electrode group 2xGa and is connected to a first partial row electrode group 2yGa to acquire a first row level distribution indicating a level distribution of the pen signal in the first partial row electrode group 2yGa. The integrated circuit 3b is connected to a second partial column electrode group 2xGb to acquire a second column level distribution indicating a level distribution of the pen signal in the second partial column electrode group 2xGb and is connected to a second partial row electrode group 2yGb to acquire a second row level distribution indicating a level distribution of the pen signal in the second partial row electrode group 2yGb. The pen detection system 1 derives a column direction position of a pen based on the first and second column level distributions and derives a row direction position based on the first and second row level distributions.

MULTI-MODAL TOUCHPAD

A multi-modal touchpad can include: a touchscreen; at least one type of input sensor; a motion sensor; a haptic feedback device; and a multi-modal controller operably coupled with: the at least one type of input sensor so as to receive sensor data therefrom; the motion sensor so as to receive motion sensor data therefrom; the haptic feedback device so as to provide instructional haptic data to the haptic feedback device; a data interface that operably couples the multi-modal controller with an operating system of a device having the multi-modal touchpad; and a graphics user interface provided from the multi-modal controller to the display so as to display data from the multi-modal controller to the display. The at least one type of sensor can include a force sensor or a proximity sensor operably coupled with the physical sensing surface.

Active stylus and capacitive position detection system

An elongated stylus is configured to be capacitively coupled with a sensor array providing a plurality of electrodes to indicate a position on the sensor array. The stylus includes a housing having an end in an elongated direction of the housing, a conductive tip disposed at least partially extended from the end of the housing, an electrode disposed around the conductive tip and configured to at least partially expose the conductive tip, and a signal transmit drive circuit configured to provide a signal. Control is performed to form an electrical connection between the electrode and a ground and an electrical connection between the electrode and the signal transmit drive circuit when the elongated stylus is activated for capacitive coupling with the sensor array.

The display panel includes at least one pixel circuit, at least one light-emitting device coupled to the pixel circuit, at least one data line, and a first voltage signal line. One pixel circuit of the at least one pixel circuit includes a data writing transistor and a photodiode. The data writing transistor includes a first electrode coupled to one of the at least one data line, and a second electrode coupled to a first electrode of the photodiode. The photodiode includes a second electrode coupled to the first voltage signal line.

A display device includes: a display panel; an input sensor on the display panel; a panel driving circuit to drive the display panel, and to output a synchronization signal; and a sensor controller to control the input sensor. The sensor controller determines a sensing mode in response to the synchronization signal, and changes the sensing mode to a second sensing mode when the synchronization signal is activated in a first sensing mode.

Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device and an input control method thereof. The electronic device may include: a touch screen display; a wireless communication circuit; a processor operatively coupled with the touch screen display, the wireless communication circuit, and the connector; and a memory operatively coupled with the processor. The memory may store instructions, when executed, for allowing the processor to render a screen including a plurality of icons in a set format when the electronic device is coupled with the external display device via the connector, and provide data related to the screen to the external display device, wherein the screen is adapted with a first relation in which an entire region of the touchscreen display corresponds to an entire region of the external display device or a second relation in which the entire region of the touchscreen display corresponds to a partial region of the external display device.
