Example implementations relate to novel battery designs based on the original disclosures of the Parent patent application Ser. No. 15/196,019. In a non-limiting embodiment, a first battery includes a ferroelectric glass electrolyte and a ferrocene Fe(C.sub.5H.sub.5).sub.2 molecule as a redox-mediator-relay material used for plating sodium on a current collector. Novel redox Fe(C.sub.5H.sub.5).sub.2 behavior is shown at a fixed (or a finite) voltage under discharge conditions. The disposed ferroelectric electrolyte material is predisposed to align itself in the direction of the electric field inside the battery, increasing the capacity of the battery. An interface device includes an on-panel pad and a sensor controller. The interface device is used to perform an input to an electronic device in response to an operation by a user on a capacitive touch panel display of the electronic device. The on-panel pad causes sensor electrodes included in the touch panel display to generate a two-dimensional pattern of capacitance while the on-panel pad is on the touch panel display. When the two-dimensional pattern generated while the on-panel pad is on the touch panel display has been detected, the sensor controller generates or outputs data including operation information in response to a change in capacitance in a region that is associated with the two-dimensional pattern and that receives an operation of the on-panel pad, the operation information indicating an operation state of the on-panel pad.

The present invention relates to a method comprising providing one or more information carrier(s) with a dielectric and/or conductive pattern and a detection device having a capacitive touch screen and inducing an interaction between the information carrier and the touch screen, wherein the interaction is based on a difference in the dielectric coefficient and/or the conductivity of the pattern and generates a touch signal and wherein the interaction is induced by relative motion between the information carrier and the touch screen. The invention further relates to a system comprising an information carrier comprising a dielectric and/or conductive pattern which encodes information and a detection device having a touch screen; the detection device is able to decode the information upon interaction between the information carrier and the touch screen, wherein the interaction is caused by a difference in the dielectric coefficient and/or the conductivity of the pattern.

Sculpted displays for clickable user interactions

Systems and methods are disclosed of a touch screen display wherein the surface of the touch screen display comprises a sculpted and/or contoured portion. The sculpted/contoured portion gives a user a tactile sense of a portion of the touch screen where commands may be actuated and/or data may be selected. The touch screen display may further be in communication with a physical switch where additional pressure by the user may be used to actuated a command associated with a selected portion of the display. Such a switch may be a piezo structure or other type of physical switch that may also be incorporated into a smart device/controller. Other embodiments may comprise haptic and/or audio feedback upon detection of the user's presence at a desired part of the touch screen display.

System and method for feedforward and feedback with haptic effects

Systems and methods for feedforward and feedback with haptic effects are disclosed. One such system may include a sensor configured to detect an interaction with a touch surface and transmit a sensor signal associated with the interaction; a processor in communication with the sensor, the processor configured to: determine an operation available on a device, the operation associated with a first user interaction; determine a simulated texture associated with the operation; output a haptic signal associated with the simulated texture; determine whether to perform the operation based on a second user interaction; and a haptic output device in communication with the processor and coupled to the touch surface, the haptic output device configured to receive a haptic signal and simulate a texture on the touch surface based in part on the haptic signal.
